Full Job Description
Renesas is seeking a Staff Mechanical Engineer to support and lead facilities engineering activities across its company-owned 120-acre semiconductor manufacturing campus, comprising approximately 528,000 square feet of controlled indoor space across six buildings supporting wafer fabrication, testing, and critical support operations. This role provides technical ownership and leadership for complex mechanical systems essential to semiconductor manufacturing, including HVAC, process piping, plumbing, fire protection systems, and the Industrial / DI Water Plant. The Staff Mechanical Engineer will partner closely with operations, maintenance, construction, and external vendors to ensure high system reliability, regulatory compliance, cost control, and long-term campus sustainability. Key Responsibilities Facilities Mechanical Engineering & System Ownership • Provide engineering leadership and technical ownership for facilities mechanical systems, including: • HVAC systems supporting cleanroom and manufacturing environments • Process and utility piping systems • Plumbing and fire suppression systems • Industrial Water and DI Water Plant systems • Evaluate system performance, capacity, and reliability to support current operations and future manufacturing requirements • Develop short-term and long-term facilities strategies aligned with site and business growth plans Design, Documentation & Engineering Standards • Lead mechanical system design efforts, including development of: • Engineering drawings and layouts • Specifications and design criteria • Cost estimates and capital justifications • Perform and/or review AutoCAD drafting, drawings, and specifications • Review and approve materials, equipment submittals, and contractor documentation • Maintain accurate as-built drawings, engineering records, and system documentation for all assigned facilities assets Operations, Maintenance & Troubleshooting Support • Partner with operations and maintenance teams to: • Troubleshoot complex mechanical system issues • Improve system uptime, efficiency, and reliability • Optimize maintenance strategies and lifecycle costs • Provide technical guidance during system failures, upgrades, and major maintenance events Project Management & Construction Oversight • Plan, manage, and execute capital and expense-funded facilities projects • Coordinate with internal stakeholders, contractors, and consultants to ensure project execution meets: • Engineering drawings and specifications • Contractual requirements • Budget and schedule commitments • Oversee construction activities to ensure safe execution and quality installation Code Compliance & Safety • Ensure all mechanical systems and projects comply with applicable: • Life safety codes • Local, state, and federal regulations • Company engineering standards and policies • Support audits, inspections, and regulatory reviews as required Qualifications Required Qualifications • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering • Minimum 5 years of engineering experience in an industrial and/or manufacturing environment (semiconductor, high-tech manufacturing, power generation, or similar facilities preferred) • Demonstrated experience supporting mechanical facilities systems such as HVAC, piping, and industrial utilities • Strong working knowledge of engineering drawings, specifications, and construction practices • Ability to independently lead projects and resolve complex technical issues Additional Information • This is an ITAR-restricted role: Candidate must be a U.S. Citizen or U.S. Person • 100% onsite position, Monday through Friday Videos To Watch https://www.youtube.com/embed/k-zs4tB6nNc
