Job Summary

This senior-level role is responsible for advancing the company's carbon accounting and emissions analytics capabilities, strengthening a scalable, data-driven approach to how emissions are estimated, forecasted, and managed across upstream operations.

This position will lead the continued development and integration of tools, data, and processes that connect emissions data, forecasting, and performance tracking, enabling the organization to move from static reporting to more dynamic, decision-ready emissions insights.

This role works closely across the air team and with multiple departments to align efforts, connect data and processes, and drive efficiencies, helping build a more cohesive approach to carbon management that supports improved decision-making and stronger environmental and operational performance.

This role offers ownership of a high-impact, high-visibility platform that underpins company emissions strategy, opportunity to shape how emissions data is used - not just reported, a role that blends technical depth, data systems, and strategic influence, broad collaboration across operations, engineering, sustainability, and leadership.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

  • Carbon Accounting Program Lead
    • Consistently meets internal and external deadlines by proactively managing timelines, coordinating across teams, and prioritizing deliverables to ensure timely, high-quality outcomes
    • Lead the evolution and continuous improvement of the carbon accounting and emissions management program, including advancing tools, systems, and capabilities
    • Develop integrated workflows that connect periodic GHG inventories, forward-looking emissions forecasts, and ongoing tracking of actuals vs. forecast performance
    • Enhance and standardize processes for data aggregation, validation, and calculation methodologies to improve scalability and efficiency
    • Drive cross-functional alignment to deliver consistent, decision-ready emissions insights
    • Improve transparency, auditability, and usability of emissions data through streamlined workflows, enhanced visuals, and potential system/platform enablement

    Regulatory & Reporting (Support Role)
    • Maintain working knowledge of GHG and air regulatory frameworks (e.g., GHGRP)
    • Support reporting and audit processes by ensuring underlying data and methodologies are robust and defensible
    • Help streamline and modernize reporting processes through system improvements

    Forecasting, Analytics & Insights
    • Develop and maintain emissions forecasting capabilities, including scenario analysis and key driver identification
    • Deliver clear, actionable insights on emissions performance to support business decision-making
    • Build and refine metrics that are meaningful and easily consumed across the organization (Ops, Engineering, Leadership)
    • Translate complex emissions data into simple, decision-ready outputs (dashboards, visuals, summaries)

    Data Systems & Integration
    • Partner with IT and data teams to integrate emissions data across systems and tools
    • Identify opportunities to automate workflows and reduce manual effort in data collection and reporting
    • Support improvement of data quality, controls, and governance across multiple sources and platforms
    • Support development of user-friendly tools for field and corporate stakeholders

    Supporting & Collaborative Responsibilities
    Emissions Detection & Monitoring (Support Role)
    • Partner with internal teams to incorporate data from detection programs (sensors, OGI, satellite) into the broader emissions framework
    • Support development of processes to evaluate and respond to emissions detections
    • Provide analytical support to improve how detection data informs emissions understanding and reduction

    Emissions Reduction & Strategy (Support Role)
    • Support identification and prioritization of emissions reduction opportunities
    • Provide analytical input into MACC development and project tracking
    • Collaborate with operations and engineering to quantify impact of reduction initiatives
    • Support initiatives such as RSG certification, Sustainability reporting, and OGMP


Job Specific Skills

  • Experience in emissions management, GHG accounting, or environmental data systems
  • Strong analytical and systems-thinking mindset
  • Experience working with complex datasets and building structured processes
  • Experience with SQL/Python, Promax, PowerBI, Spotfire, upstream oil and gas emissions software platforms.
  • Strong Microsoft Excel capabilities
  • Experience with GHG inventories, forecasting, or sustainability reporting
  • Familiarity with data systems, dashboards, or analytics tools
  • Experience bridging technical data and business decision-making
  • Background in upstream oil & gas or similar industrial operations


Education

Minimum: Bachelor's degree - from accredited university - Engineering from an ABET Engineering Accreditation Commission (EAC) program or Professional Engineer (PE) license

Preferred: Bachelor's degree in engineering, environmental science, data science or related field

Experience

Minimum: 5 years related work experience
