Job Description:

The Data Center Solutions Division within Microchip designs NVM Express (NVMe) SSD controllers that enable the world's leading enterprises and data centers to realize the span of highest performing SSDs to highest capacity mainstream SSDs utilizing the latest NAND technologies.

As a member of the NVM controller firmware team, based in Roseville, CA and reporting to a Senior Manager of Firmware Development, a successful applicant will be involved in the design, implementation, and verification of security firmware for the latest generation of NVMe SSD Controllers.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Lead and mentor a group of firmware engineers and collaborate with cross functional teams.
  • Participate in the design and development of secure boot and security firmware.
  • Participate as a member of the firmware team in the architecture and design reviews.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex software problems in embedded real-time systems.
  • Generate comprehensive engineering documentation.


Requirements/Qualifications:

Required Qualifications:
  • BS/MS degree in computer science, computer engineering or equivalent experience required.
  • 10+ years embedded system development and verification experience.
  • Strong C, C++ and Python programming skills and product development experience.
  • Strong background in software methodology and full-cycle development (design, implementation, testing, and debugging).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience in computer storage industry, especially with PCIe/NVMe protocols.
  • Preferred Skills:
    • ARM Architecture
    • Knowledge of Rust and Memory Safe Programming
    • Knowledge of Caliptra Open-Source Root-of-Trust technologies
    • Familiarity with hardware & software co-verification/emulation platforms such as Cadence Palladium and Protium
    • Bus/Logic Analyzers and PCIe Exercisers
    • Source Code Management (Git, Perforce etc.)
    • Agile Scrum development methodology
    • DevOps and Continuous Improvement Frameworks
    • Secure Development Life Cycle and Methodology
    • JIRA project management software
    • Knowledge scripting languages such as:
      • Python, Perl etc.
    • Familiarity with Linux environment (device drivers, shell scripting etc.)
