Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems is looking to add a Staff Engineer Systems to join our team in Beale AFB. The candidate should be a self-starter with familiarity working in an Integrated Product Team construct.
In this role, you will design and define system architectures for new or existing complex computer systems.
Roles and Responsibilities will include:
- Define system specifications, input/output processes, and operating parameters to ensure hardware/software compatibility and maintain system security.
- Coordinate subsystem design and total system integration; identify, analyze, and resolve program support deficiencies.
- Develop and recommend corrective actions; collaborate with software baseline engineers to achieve successful overall system design.
- Plan, evaluate, and coordinate the installation and/or reconfiguration of Commercial Off-the-Shelf (COTS) hardware and proprietary software builds.
- Maintain technical expertise in network and computer hardware/software interconnection and interfacing, including routers, multiplexers, firewalls, hubs, bridges, gateways, and related technologies.
- Prepare or ensure the existence of appropriate network documentation, including operational instructions.
- Conduct regular monitoring and network analysis to support short- and long-range planning for in-house systems.
- May coordinate third-party maintenance for network equipment.
- May design networks or portions of networks, including selection of hardware and software packages.
- Act as Deputy for Integrated Product Team
- Lead enterprise Windows/Linux system operations and lifecycle; plan and execute maintenance windows, outages, and DR/COOP exercises.
- Represent System Engineer in Integrated Product Team (IPT)s, Scrum, and Program Management Review (PMR), brief leadership on availability, capacity, risk, and compliance status.
- Coordinate and present changes/architectural impacts to Configuration Control Board (CCB)/Engineer Review Board (ERB); produce artifacts, risk assessments, and back-out plans to secure approvals.
- Able to supervise and mentor engineers; prioritize backlog, assign work, develop Standard Operating Procedure (SOP)/runbooks, and enforce change and access controls.
- Manage capacity/performance and technology roadmaps; forecast resource needs, plan upgrades, and coordinate vendors and support contracts.
The selected candidate will be required to work full-time, on-site at our facility. There is no remote / hybrid / telework available for this position. Travel up to 25% may be required.
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline and 12 years of related engineering experience; OR a Master’s degree in a STEM discipline and 10 years of related engineering experience; OR a PhD in a STEM discipline and 8 years of related engineering experience.
- Ability to obtain and maintain an IAT Level II Security Certification (e.g., Security+, CySA+, CCNA Security, GICSP, GSEC, SSCP)
- Active DoD Top Secret clearance (with a background investigation within the past 5 years or enrolled into Continuous Evaluation).
- Ability to obtain and maintain initial Special Access Program (SAP) access via a Program Access Request (PAR). This SAP/PAR must be obtained prior to commencement of employment and must be obtained within a reasonable amount of time as determined by the company to meet its business needs.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Current applicable Special Access Program (SAP) clearance.
- Active DoD Top Secret SCI clearance (with a background investigation within the past 5 years or enrolled into Continuous Evaluation).
- Current DoD 8570 IAT DoD Level III (e.g., CASP, CCNP Security, CISA, CISSP, GCED, GCIH). Or
- Experience with Agile methodologies and tools (JIRA/Confluence)
- Willingness to work outside normal scheduled hours, including after-hours support and extended workdays.
- Valid driver's license.
- Experience with the following operating systems and applications:

Primary Level Salary Range: $169,000.00 - $253,600.00
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
