Northrop Grumman Defense Systems is seeking a Staff Software Lead for the SLCM-N Tactical Supplier Management Team software team. This position will be located in Huntville, AL.

This position is contingent upon funding.

Primary responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to:

- Lead the architecture, design, and integration of complex software-intensive, safety-critical systems in support of the SLCM-N Tactical Supplier Management Team throughout Technology Maturation and Risk Reduction.

- Develop, decompose, and manage system, hardware, and software requirements (including safety-critical functions) using MBSE methods and tools, ensuring traceability from mission objectives through design, implementation, and test.

- Plan and conduct Safety Critical Functional Thread Analysis (SCFTA) and other functional safety analyses, and define software and system requirements and interfaces that enable safe, fault-tolerant, and deterministic operation for critical functions.

- Create and maintain architecture, requirements, design, and verification plans/standards for software and systems, including verification plans and procedures that provide complete functional validation as defined in the Software Requirements Specification.

- Lead cross-functional, Agile Scrum teams and multiple Integrated Product Teams (IPTs), collaborating with internal and external stakeholders and suppliers to integrate software, hardware, and specialty engineering disciplines.

- Evaluate technical risks, issues, and trade-offs across suppliers and system elements; develop and present solution options, recommendations, and mitigation plans to program and customer leadership.

- Apply Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE), SysML, and Model-Based Product Line Engineering concepts to develop, analyze, and maintain system models, interfaces, and product line variants for the Command and Launch system.

- Guide software development teams in applying software engineering best practices (coding standards, configuration management, test automation, continuous integration) to deliver software artifacts that meet nuclear surety, cyber, and certification requirements.

- Develop and support system integration, verification, and validation activities, including lab integration events and flight test buildup and execution, to demonstrate compliance to requirements and support certification milestones.

- Represent the program as a prime technical contact with customer and supplier counterparts, clearly communicating technical approaches, findings, and program status, and providing technical leadership to resolve complex issues with minimal direction.

Basic Qualifications:

- Bachelors degree from an accredited university and 12 years of relevant experience (4 additional years of experience may be used in lieu of a degree), OR a Masters degree and 10 years of relevant experience, OR a PhD and 8 years of relevant experience.

- Must be a US Citizen with an active DoD Secret Clearance, at time of application, current and within scope, with an investigation date within the last 6 years.

- Must have the ability to obtain and maintain Top Secret Clearance and Special Access Program (SAP) approval within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the company to meet its business needs.

- Experience leading requirements, architecture, design, integration, and verification of complex, software-intensive, safety-critical systems using MBSE methods (minimum 2 years MBSE experience).

- Experience with Agile software development in cross-functional Scrum teams, including defining and managing software/system requirements, performing SCFTA and/or safety analyses, and integrating multiple engineering disciplines and suppliers on a DoD program (preferably with USAF Nuclear Surety and/or cyber certification exposure).

Preferred Qualifications:

- Active DoD Top Secret Clearance.
- Proficient with DOORS and Cameo (or similar MBSE/SysML tools), with demonstrated ability to write, decompose, and manage system and software requirements and models; OMG SysML Model Builder Fundamental Certification is a plus.
- Experience with the Atlassian Tool Suite (Jira, Confluence) supporting Agile planning, backlog management, and technical documentation across multiple IPTs and suppliers.
- Experience with USAF Nuclear Surety (AFMAN 91-119) and/or cyber certification for command and launch or other nuclear-related systems, including delivery of software products for flight/IFC certification and support to system buildup and flight tests.
- Experience applying Model-Based Product Line Engineering concepts to software-intensive systems, and evaluating technical risks and trade-offs to develop and present solution options to management and customer stakeholders.

Primary Level Salary Range: $169,000.00 - $253,600.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
