Job Description

Conduct environmental site assessments (Phase I/II), investigations and surveys to measure, sample and analyze selected media/material (ex: air, water and soil). Identify, evaluate and recommend risk and remediation strategies/designs to ensure compliance with federal, state and local regulations. Prepare applicable permit applications, risk assessments and technical documents including proposals, reports, data tabulation, figure generation (using ArcGIS) and regulatory agency correspondence. Projects may include Phase I/II environmental site assessments, brownfields assessments, long-term monitoring, tank closure assessments, free product recovery, stormwater management, site planning and permitting, and ecological and natural resource field surveys.

Responsibilities

Essential Roles and Responsibilities:
• Follow safety rules, guidelines and standards for all projects. Participate in pre-task planning. Report any safety issues or concerns to management.
• Be responsible for maintaining quality standards on all projects.
• Developing level scientific professional responsible for conducting analyses of component portions of environmental consulting projects; assignments are designed to develop knowledge and abilities.
• Perform site visits, field observations and field data collection or assignments.
• Assist in the collection and analysis of data from sampling, reports, maps, drawings, tests and aerial photographs to evaluate, plan and permit projects.
• Conduct water, soil, air, and other sampling in accordance with applicable regulatory guidelines.
• Exhibit a high level of critical thinking necessary to adapt to challenges in the field and changes in conditions, while maintaining communication with the project management team.
• Implements technical requirements to complete client projects.
• Outlines required investigative program(s) by selecting the proper alternative techniques to conduct site studies in field of expertise.
• Compiles field data into tables and figures to produce draft written technical reports for projects and may assist with portions of recommendations and proposals.
• Drafts written proposals to clients for small projects and may assist with portions of proposals on larger projects.
• Provides subcontractor oversight and ensures implementation of safety, technical and quality standards.
• May have limited client contact pertaining to specific projects/tasks.

Qualifications

Requirements:
• Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Geology, Engineering or related science field and a minimum 2-3 years of related experience. Or, in lieu of a degree, a minimum of 6 years of related experience.
• Valid driver's license with acceptable violation history.
Preferred Certification:
• OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER.
• Certification in field of expertise.
