The Electrical Engineer will be responsible for the design of the electrical components of a wide variety of projects including commercial, industrial, municipal, water and wastewater treatment, and pump station projects. The designs tasks include cabling system selection, sizing, and routing; electrical gear specification and layout; lighting fixtures selection and layout; engine generator sizing; electrical system condition assessment; construction observation; communications and notification systems specification and layout; and instrumentation and control system selection, specification, and layout.
The successful candidate will take responsibility for design of electrical systems from project definition through construction. The candidate must be able to interface with owners, architects, engineers, vendors, code inspectors, and utility personnel. The candidate must be able work within established budgets and schedules. The candidate should have the ability to manage multiple projects at the same time.
Key Qualifications:
- Under the guidance of registered professional engineers, provide electrical design and engineering for various electrical systems, including power distribution, lighting, instrumentation and controls, grounding, telecommunications and fire alarm systems.
- Apply current codes and standards to designs.
- Perform electrical load and voltage drop calculations.
- Prepare short circuit and overcurrent device coordination studies.
- Perform cost estimates of electrical designs.
- Prepare electrical specifications.
- Provide energy efficient and sustainable design.
- Provide construction assistance, including review of contractor submittals, answering contractor questions, and observing construction.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science (Electrical Engineering or other Engineering discipline)
- Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification preferred, ability to qualify for professional engineering licensure within 8 years
