We are searching for the best talent for Staff Electrical Engineer position.

Experienced electrical engineer with deep expertise in electronic systems, PCBAs, and product troubleshooting. You have a proven track record of leading complex technical investigations, driving design-for-manufacturability improvements, and influencing engineering decisions across multiple functions. You enjoy working in fast-paced environments where technical depth, collaboration, and execution are equally valued. You are motivated by challenging problems, take ownership of results, and continuously seek opportunities to improve products, processes, and the customer experience.

You will be responsible for:

Under general direction/supervision and in accordance with all applicable federal, state and local laws/regulations and Corporate Johnson & Johnson, procedures and guidelines, this position
  • Serve as the electrical engineering technical lead for manufacturing support, sustaining engineering, and product lifecycle management activities.
  • Lead complex root cause investigations and corrective actions involving electronic assemblies, system integration, and field or manufacturing performance issues.
  • Responsible for detailed failure investigation, including fault isolation to the component or subsystem level, root-cause determination, and implementation of effective corrective actions
  • Conduct hands-on electrical engineering analysis (analog and digital) and detailed fault isolation to component or subsystem level
  • Employs technical knowledge in electronics and PCBA's, functional testing, assembly processes and techniques, LEAN/Six Sigma tools, and other engineering skills to constantly identify, raise, gain approval, and execute, in collaboration with external and internal partners, to deliver improvement opportunities within the raw material supply chain against targets.
  • Focus on reducing scrap and improving yields related to Printed Circuit Boards in manufacturing. Working with supplier to maintain continuity of supply by working to improve highest failures, troubleshooting and testing.
  • Drive Design for Manufacturability (DFM) improvements to enhance quality, reliability, cost, and manufacturability of electronic assemblies.
  • Partner closely with R&D, Quality, Manufacturing, Supplier Quality, and Operations teams to resolve technical challenges and implement robust engineering solutions.
  • Provide technical oversight for PCBAs, electrical subsystems, test methodologies, and manufacturing processes.
  • Leads and/or participates in moderately complex quality and failure investigations involving raw material suppliers or external manufacturers, partnering with the appropriate cross-functional resources and subject matter expertise as required, to identify root cause and implement corrective action. Communicates updates and progress and escalates appropriately.
  • Provides guidance and input to leadership as it relates to the ability of external suppliers to maintain adequate capacity to support the demand forecast. Anticipates future constraints and raises, gains approval, and executes activities in advance of any constraints to ensure continuity of supply to customers.
  • Perform system-level troubleshooting of electro-mechanical and electro-pneumatic systems, including hardware/software interactions
  • Lead root-cause investigations for field and internal product issues, ensuring clear problem replication and resolution
  • Support product transfers, supplier qualification activities, and process capability improvements across internal and external manufacturing sites.
  • Develop and review engineering documentation including specifications, protocols, test plans, validation reports, risk assessments, and technical justifications.
  • Evaluation and implementation of electronic components for replacement due to end of life. Will require assessment of PCBA circuity and redesign for DFM of PCB as required.
  • Evaluate design changes and manufacturing process improvements through risk-based decision making and engineering analysis.
  • Support regulatory submissions, compliance testing, and certification activities including IEC, UL, FCC, and applicable medical device standards.
  • Analyze field, production, and reliability data to identify trends and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Mentor engineers and technicians while providing technical guidance across cross-functional teams.
  • Demonstrate technical ownership and accountability across the full lifecycle from failure identification to root cause to validated solution implementation


Qualifications / Requirements:

Education
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related engineering discipline.

Experience and Skills

Required:
  • Minimum 8+ years of electrical engineering experience in product development, manufacturing, or sustaining engineering environments.
  • Experience troubleshooting complex electrical systems, electronic assemblies, and PCBAs.
  • Strong understanding of electronic circuit design, system integration, and manufacturing processes.
  • Strong expertise in analog, digital, and mixed-signal circuit analysis and debugging
  • Proven ability in system-level troubleshooting across hardware, firmware, and integrated systems
  • Hands-on experience with lab equipment (oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, multimeters, power analyzers)
  • Experience with schematic review, PCB analysis, and implementing design changes
  • Experience supporting manufacturing, yield issues, and production problem resolution
  • Ability to drive corrective and preventive actions for field and internal quality issues
  • Experience with component selection, qualification, obsolescence management, and supplier engagement
  • Demonstrated experience leading technical investigations using structured problem-solving methodologies.
  • Experience working in cross-functional teams and influencing technical decisions across organizations.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Leads and/or participates in a wide range of technical projects from the moderately large and complex to smaller activities and tasks, utilizing appropriate Project Management / FPx tools and Six Sigma / Process Excellence tools.
  • Provides guidance and direction to more junior engineers and integrates contracted and other resources. Delivers, through cross-functional coordination, not only the direct technical project activities but also all related regulatory, clinical, marketing, and other actions required to bring the project to market (e.g. a strong end-to-end mindset).
  • Leads and/or participates in raw material and finished goods (F.G.) projects across multiple suppliers and internally where common supply streams exist. Capable of engaging with cross-functional resources remotely and across time zones, cultures, and functions to deliver project objectives.
  • Maintains and expands personal technical knowledge and skills across multiple process, materials, engineering technologies, and manufacturing techniques to successfully lead a wide array of technical projects and activities.
  • Manages the budget for all assigned projects from need identification and justification, through aCAR generation and approval, asset delivery, asset installation & V&V, supplier payment, documentation closeout, and capture of any related savings.
  • Use data and risk-based decision making to solve complex business and technical challenges.
  • Build strong partnerships with internal teams and external manufacturing partners.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement, quality, and compliance


Preferred:
  • Medical device industry experience.
  • Experience supporting regulated manufacturing environments and quality management systems.
  • Expertise in PCB Assembly (PCBA) Design for Manufacturability (DFM).
  • Knowledge of IEC 60601-1, EMC, electrical safety, and product compliance requirements.
  • Experience supporting supplier development and global manufacturing transfers.
  • Familiarity with reliability engineering, risk management, and design controls.
  • Experience with statistical analysis and data-driven decision making.

The anticipated base pay range for this position is :
$109,000.00 - $174,800.00

Additional Description for Pay Transparency:
Subject to the terms of their respective plans, employees are eligible to participate in the Company's consolidated retirement plan (pension) and savings plan (401(k)).

This position is eligible to participate in the Company's long-term incentive program.

Subject to the terms of their respective policies and date of hire, employees are eligible for the following time off benefits:

Vacation -120 hours per calendar year
Sick time - 40 hours per calendar year; for employees who reside in the State of Colorado -48 hours per calendar year; for employees who reside in the State of Washington -56 hours per calendar year
Holiday pay, including Floating Holidays -13 days per calendar year
