About This RoleWe are seeking a highly experienced Staff Engineer to support the development of advanced electrical and embedded systems within Carrier's product portfolio. This role is responsible for contributing to system design, technical problem solving, and cross-functional execution across the full product development lifecycle from concept through production and field support.
The ideal candidate brings deep technical expertise in electronics and embedded systems, combined with the ability to lead complex engineering activities, mentor team members, and drive robust, cost-effective product solutions.
Key ResponsibilitiesTechnical Leadership & System Design- Lead design and development of electronic and embedded systems, including control systems and hardware platforms
- Contribute to system architecture and integration across hardware, software, and electromechanical components
- Provide technical guidance on complex design challenges and ensure alignment with performance, reliability, and compliance requirements
Product Development Execution- Support execution of new product development and sustaining projects across all phases (concept, design, validation, release)
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (systems, software, manufacturing, quality) to deliver integrated solutions
- Drive resolution of technical issues and ensure timely delivery of engineering milestones
Embedded Systems & Electronics- Design and support development of embedded platforms, including microcontrollers, digital/analog circuits, and control interfaces
- Contribute to real-time software integration and system-level performance optimization
- Ensure compatibility and robustness across system components and operational environments
Process & Quality- Apply structured engineering methodologies and quality practices to improve product performance and reliability
- Participate in design reviews, validation planning, and documentation standards
- Identify opportunities for cost optimization, standardization, and reuse across platforms
Mentorship & Team Development- Mentor junior engineers in technical design, development processes, and best practices
- Contribute to knowledge sharing and continuous improvement within the engineering organization
- Support development of tools, templates, and standard work to improve team effectiveness
Required Qualifications- Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering, 7+ years' experience in electrical or embedded systems design and development.
OR - Master's degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering, 5+ years' experience in electrical or embedded systems design and development.
Preferred Qualifications- Demonstrated ability to contribute to complex product development programs
- Experience working across multiple phases of the product lifecycle
- Prior involvement in system-level integration and multidisciplinary engineering efforts
- Embedded systems design and real-time software environments
- Analog and digital circuit design
- Control systems and sensor/interface integration
- Familiarity with regulatory and industry standards (e.g., safety, compliance)
- Experience with engineering tools and structured development processes
Pay RangeThe annual salary for this position is between $96,000.00 - $192,000.00 annually. Factors which may affect pay within this range include, but are not limited to, skills, education, experience, and other unique qualifications of the successful candidate.
Other CompensationThis position is entitled to short-term cash incentives, subject to plan requirements.
