Job Summary

We have an exciting career opportunity for a Staff Electrical Design Engineer in the Electrical Engineering Department located in San Diego, CA (Poway, CA). This is position general supervision with limited review, this position supports the design and development of advanced electrical components, equipment and systems for unmanned air vehicles. Assignments are normally accompanied by general instructions and suggestions, outlining possible approaches, sources or information.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • The capturing of initial hardware requirements.
  • Diagramming and planning of initial conceptual circuit designs.
  • Responsible for analog, digital and power conversion PCB level circuit design with appropriate analysis and/or CAD modeling.
  • Responsible for control schemes, analog, digital or software, magnetic and electric machine design and/or specification, EMI design, thermal analysis and packaging.
  • Responsible for design reviews and presentations.
  • Responsible for testing and design verification of circuit designs.
  • Documentation necessary to support production (i.e. test procedures, records, bill of materials, ICD's, SCD's, ECO's and production support) and training.
  • Required to provide field and/or production support as needed.
  • Performs other duties as assigned or required.

Job Qualifications

  • Typically requires a bachelors degree, masters degree or PhD in engineering or a related technical discipline from an accredited institution and progressive engineering experience as follows; nine or more years of experience with a bachelors degree, seven or more years of experience with a masters degree, or four or more years with a PhD. May substitute equivalent engineering experience in lieu of education.
  • Must possess the ability to understand new concepts quickly; apply them accurately throughout an evolving environment; organize, schedule, and coordinate work phases; and, determine the appropriate approach at the task level or, with assistance, at the project level to provide solutions to a range of complex problems.
