PayPal, Inc. seeks Staff Data Scientist in Chicago, IL
Job Duties: Lead the development and implementation of advanced data science models. Develop cutting edge, scalable and safe products to enhance the experience for PayPal's global customers. Automate manual processes and introduce AI solutions to replace manual work and reduce dependency on human resources. Maintain and enhance data-driven authentication risk strategies to support PayPal's global financial business goals. Identify new and emerging fraud trends and partner with key stakeholders to effectively mitigate those. Partner with ML (Machine Learning) modelers to develop and validate new risk detection models and adopt those into the decision layer. Establish and measure performance against KPIs (Key Performance Indicators) and goals. Serve as subject matter expert in communication with legal and compliance partners. Partial telecommuting permitted from within a commutable distance.
Minimum Requirements: Master's degree, or foreign equivalent, in Economics, Finance, Computer Science, Statistics, Business Analytics, or Engineering with a Data Science specialization, or a closely related field plus five years of experience in the job offered or a related occupation. Employer will accept a Bachelor's degree, or foreign equivalent, in Economics, Finance, Computer Science, Statistics, Business Analytics, or Engineering with a Data Science specialization or a closely related field plus eight years of experience in the job offered or a related occupation.
Special Skill Requirements:
1. Data Analytics using SQL: Experience analyzing and interpreting complex datasets to extract actionable insights and support business decision-making, proficient in writing and optimizing complex SQL queries (5 years)
2. Dashboarding and Visualization (Tableau/Power BI): Experience building comprehensive reporting modules and visualizations to monitor KPIs, identify behaviour trends and create alerts for anomalies to support leadership in strategic decision-making (5 years)
3. Big data tools and cloud platforms: Hands on experience with tools like Big query, Google Cloud Platform, Jupyter notebook for to create reproducible and scalable analysis (5 years)
4. A/B testing and statistical experimentation: Proficient in designing and executing experiments, hypothesis testing, KPI measurement and scenario validation to support business decisions (3 years)
5. Python programming for data analysis: Strong practical coding experience using Python for large-scale data processing and statistical analysis in enterprise environments (5 years)
6. Machine learning: Experience with interpreting and assessing machine learning models (classification, regression, feature engineering) to understand model accuracy and alignment with business goals (5 years)
7. Behavioral data analysis: Expertise extracting and analyzing customer behavior signals to identify patterns and generate predictive indicators (2 years)
8. Automation and scripting: Practical experience designing and automating workflows, reports and dashboards using python and enterprise tools (5 years)
9. Statistical analysis: Experience in regression methods, segmentation analysis and exploratory analysis (5 years)
10. Unstructured data processing: Experience processing unstructured text data, extracting keywords and sentiment by applying natural language processing and Gen AI techniques (2 years)

Additional compensation for this role may include an annual performance bonus, equity, or other incentive compensation, as applicable.
