PayPal, Inc. seeks Staff Data Engineer in San Jose, CA
Job Duties: Deliver new features, enhancements, and fixes for our real-time applications within Marketing Technology platform. Work with Engineers, Architects, Product Owners to build, test and deliver features that impact millions of Pay Pal Users globally. Contribute to PayPal's overarching mission of revolutionizing customer engagement globally. Build, enhance, and scale the back-end applications that underpin our marketing technology experiences, you will be a key player in enabling seamless and innovative ways of engagement of our customers worldwide. Develop high-quality, secure, and performant software solutions will not only improve user experiences but also drive inclusion and flexibility that is critical in today's digital economy. Design, build, and maintain robust data pipelines and ETL processes to ingest, transform, and load data from various sources into our data warehouse, ensuring scalability and efficiency. Collaborate with product managers, analysts, and other stakeholders to understand data requirements and develop solutions that meet business needs while accommodating large volumes of data. Ensure the reliability, availability, and scalability of our data systems, monitoring performance and optimizing as needed to handle increasing data volumes. Implement automated data quality checks and validation processes to ensure data integrity and accuracy at scale. Impeccable analytical and problem-solving skills to solve hard complex problems in a fast-paced environment. Troubleshoot data-related issues, identify root causes, and implement solutions in a timely manner to minimize impact on data processing. Create and maintain design documents and documentation for data pipelines, systems, and processes. Participate actively in design and code reviews, provide constructive feedback to peers and incorporating feedback into your own work to maintain high standards of code quality and functionality. Minimum Requirements: Master's degree, or foreign equivalent, in Computer Science, Engineering, or a closely related field plus eight years of experience in the job offered or a related occupation. Employer will accept a Bachelor's degree, or foreign equivalent, in Computer Science, Engineering, or a closely related field plus ten years of experience in the job offered or a related occupation.
Special Skill Requirements:
1. Data Engineering, Warehousing and Analytics (8 years)
2. Python and Shell scripting (8 years)
3. Experience in SQL and building ETL (Extraction, Transformation, and Loading) processes for large datasets (8 years)
4. Business intelligence tools such as Tableau or ThoughtSpot (5 years)
5. Cloud-based data warehousing technologies, including Google BigQuery (5 years)
6. Cloud platforms such as Google Cloud Platform (5 years)
7. Data modeling skills and experience with modeling tools like Erwin (5 years)
8. Experience in building real time data processing using Apache Kafka (5 years)
9. Workflow orchestration and scheduling tools, including Apache Airflow and Automic UC4 (5 years)
10. Processing structured, semi-structured, and unstructured data using Spark and Hadoop (4 years)
Additional Responsibilities & Preferred Qualifications:
The base pay for this role will depend on where you work and the relevant experience and expertise you bring. The expected range of pay for this role by location is:
Primary Location | Pay Range:
San Jose, California | Salary: $227,639.00-300,500.00 per annum. 40 hours per week; M-F, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Additional compensation for this role may include an annual performance bonus, equity, or other incentive compensation, as applicable.
