Description

The Rule of Law Lab at NYU law school is seeking applicants for a full-time staff counsel or staff advisor position. This is a one year position that is renewable subject to funding.

The position will entail:

  1. Developing and implementing, in collaboration with ROLL's faculty director, ROLL's strategy.
  2. Legal research, writing, documentation, litigation, and advocacy in support of ROLL's projects around the world, including in the US.
  3. Assisting in public education and knowledge dissemination relating to ROLL's work.
  4. Assisting the faculty director in fundraising and administrative tasks for ROLL.
  5. Assisting the faculty director in engaging students working with ROLL.


Benefits and Terms of Employment

In compliance with New York City's Pay Transparency Act, the annual salary range is $105,000-$120,000 for the position. New York University considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as market and organizational considerations when extending an offer.

  3. 3+ years of relevant experience in US civil rights and/or international human rights litigation and documentation in Latin America, Europe, and/or Africa required
  4. Excellent research, writing, and editing skills required
  5. Ability to navigate high-stakes situations under time pressure required
  6. Ability to travel in the US and internationally required
  7. Diplomatic skills in navigating varying cultures required
  8. Admission to the New York Bar preferred
  9. Proficiency in Spanish and French preferred
