Full Job Description
We are looking to add a Staff Communication Systems Modeling & Simulation to join our team. In this position, you will lead the design, development, integration, and validation of communications systems supporting advanced products and platforms. This role independently applies advanced systems engineering principles to lead complex communications systems development efforts, develop robust system solutions, and resolve challenging system integration issues from concept through verification and production.

Working cross-functionally with systems, software, RF, electrical, mechanical, integration and test, quality, and program teams, this role leads technical initiatives, supports multidisciplinary product development, and promotes engineering best practices.

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead the design and development of communications system architectures, interfaces, subsystems, and performance models supporting product development.
  • Guide system modeling, link analysis, performance evaluation, trade studies, simulation, and system integration across multiple development programs.
  • Develop communications system architectures and technical solutions that satisfy product, customer, performance, interoperability, and system requirements.
  • Leverage a digital modelling and simulation ecosystem of tools to model communication system architecture in the support of architetcure trade studies, new business efforts, and requirement development
  • Lead efforts to establish streamlined, repeatable modeling and simulation processes and identify opportunities for workflow automation and reuse across programs and product lines
  • Conduct verification, validation, testing, simulation, integration, and troubleshooting activities across multiple development programs.
  • Resolve complex communications systems and system integration issues through analysis of simulation results, system performance data, test results, and engineering observations.
  • Guide implementation of engineering changes, system improvements, corrective actions, and design updates that improve system performance, reliability, interoperability, and operational effectiveness.
  • Lead collaboration with systems, software, RF, electrical, mechanical, integration and test, quality, and program teams throughout product development.
  • Prepare technical documentation, interface control documentation, verification reports, engineering reports, engineering change documentation, and technical recommendations.
  • Lead design reviews, technical investigations, customer technical discussions, system integration, and verification activities.
  • Evaluate communications systems engineering methods, modeling practices, requirements management processes, and development activities to identify improvement opportunities.
  • Promote consistent application of engineering standards, company procedures, customer requirements, and systems engineering best practices.
  • Guide continuous improvement initiatives that strengthen system performance, requirements quality, modeling accuracy, engineering efficiency, and technical execution.


JOB REQUIREMENTS AND MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in systems engineering, aerospace engineering, electrical engineering, computer engineering, or a related engineering field with 8-12 years of related experience, Master's degree with 6-8 years of related experience, or PhD with 3-5 years of related experience in systems engineering, system architecture, requirements management, configuration management, systems integration, or a related discipline.
  • Advanced knowledge of communications systems, systems engineering principles, system architecture, requirements development, and interface management.
  • Proficiency in systems modeling, link analysis, performance evaluation, simulation tools, trade studies, and engineering analysis methods.
  • In-depth knowledge of digital communications, RF fundamentals, networking concepts, signal processing, interface development, interoperability, and system integration.
  • Understanding of systems engineering processes, verification methodologies, engineering documentation, requirements management, technical standards, and model validation.
  • Proficiency in modeling and simulation, product development, configuration management, multidisciplinary engineering collaboration, and system performance optimization.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite including Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Teams.
  • Engineering analysis and modeling tools, e.g. MATLAB, Simulink, STK, Python, or equivalent applications.
  • Engineering documentation, requirements management, and collaboration tools, e.g. DOORS, Jira, Confluence, or equivalent applications.
