Work Arrangement:

Hybrid: This full-time position does not require an employee to be on-site full-time to perform most effectively. However, this position requires an employee to be onsite at least three times per week (Tues., Wed., Thurs.)

The Role:

As a Staff Applied AI Quality Specialist at GM, you will play a critical role in ensuring the highest levels of product quality, reliability, and durability for our vehicles.

This role connects customer experience, data analytics, AI and product engineering within Vehicle Software and Electronics Engineering Quality(VSEE Quality) to drive both short‑term containment and long‑term quality improvements across global vehicle programs.

You will be instrumental in preventing issues, identifying and resolving problems and continuously improving our quality to deliver exceptional products to our customers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Drive technical excellence in VSEE Quality through data analytics, AI solutions, and holistic quality adoption across the organization.

  • Develop AI and data analytics solutions to advance VSEE quality.

  • Champion continuous learning, mentoring, and standardized data analytics and AI practices within Engineering Standard Work.

  • Lead data-driven quality investigations using DTCs, robustness analysis, warranty, service, manufacturing, telematics, and customer feedback data.

  • Oversee issue identification, hardware/software categorization, prioritization, and tracking through GM quality systems and dashboards.

  • Represent the organization in quality governance, escalation, and executive review forums.

  • Drive containment actions, root cause investigations, and permanent corrective actions to timely closure.

  • Lead service, plant, and OTA breakpoint management to enable effective quality improvements.

  • Forecast quality and warranty performance, monitor targets, and implement recovery plans as needed.

  • Track quality trends, Pareto drivers, and emerging risks to proactively prevent customer-impacting issues.

  • Lead rapid response activities for field escalations, launch issues, and critical customer concerns.

  • Drive read-across and systemic improvements across vehicle programs and architectures.

  • Align engineering, manufacturing, service, supplier, and program teams to accelerate issue resolution and quality outcomes.

  • Influence stakeholders to balance customer satisfaction, quality, warranty, cost, timing, and business objectives.

  • Develop executive-level quality metrics, dashboards, and communications to support decision-making.

  • Build a culture of accountability, technical excellence, innovation, and continuous improvement.

  • Coach and develop talent while advancing organizational capabilities in quality analytics, problem solving, and AI-driven productivity.

Minimum Skillset Required:

  • BS in Engineering, Data Science, Physics, Computer Science, Mathematics or similar.

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in engineering.

  • Minimum 2 years of experience developing and deploying in AI/ML solutions in production environment.

  • Experience analyzing warranty, DTC, field performance, service, manufacturing, or customer data.

  • Proficient in Python programming for production code.

  • Program management experience, ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

  • Excellent technical problem-solving skills, with a track record of successful issue resolution.

  • High level of integrity, ability to deal with ambiguity, take initiative/self-directed.

  • Consistent demonstration of customer-centric innovation.

  • Good interpersonal skills and experience collaborating with cross-functional teams

  • High level of oral and written communication skills

  • DFSS Black Belt

Preferred Skills Required:

  • 5+ years of experience in engineering.

  • 2+ years of experience developing and deploying in AI/ML solutions in production environment.

  • Experience in Quality, Reliability & Durability (QRD), warranty, or field quality roles.

  • Experience supporting CPIT, Focus CPIT, SMT Core PDT, and escalation forums.

  • Use of QRD tools such as: SI, TrackerGart, QDAP, DAS, GWM, MERS

  • Knowledge of hardware vs. software issue partitioning and corrective action processes.

  • Experience working with global teams and suppliers.

  • Passion for leveraging AI & data analytics to standardize QRD work.

  • Current or previous role in providing technical direction to others

  • Experience with interacting with senior leaders

  • MS in Engineering, Data Science, Physics, Mathematics, Computer Science, or similar.
