About This Role:

Join Crusoe as a Staff Applications Estimator and play a vital role in driving sales growth by acting as the critical technical bridge between customer requests, sales strategy, and final manufacturing proposals. In this role, you will meticulously estimate project costs, ensure quotation accuracy, and manage the seamless handoff to internal engineering and production teams.

This role requires a detail-oriented professional with a strong technical foundation in electrical manufacturing, exceptional communication skills, and a collaborative spirit. Your work directly ensures the competitive pricing, scope accuracy, and overall profitability of Crusoe's custom infrastructure projects. This is a full-time position.

What You'll Be Working On:
  • Customer & Sales Liaison: Interface directly with customers and their technical consultants to clarify project scope, resolve technical ambiguities, and gather essential requirements for accurate bids.
  • Scope of Work Development: Generate detailed, formal written Scope of Work (SOW) documents defining all services, deliverables, and specifications required for each project.
  • Meticulous Scope Alignment: Align on project requirements and exclusions with excruciating detail, documenting all parameters prior to launching the hard bid process.
  • Technical Document Review: Analyze customer-provided specifications, engineering drawings, wiring diagrams, and single-line schematics to confirm technical completeness and feasibility.
  • Costing & Pricing Models: Develop, maintain, and refine standardized pricing tools, cost models, and BOM templates to streamline quoting by leveraging historical project data.
  • BOM & Vendor Pricing: Collaborate with in-house engineering teams and vendor representatives to compile accurate Bills of Materials (BOMs) and secure current pricing and lead times.
  • Vendor Quote Analysis: Validate technical pricing data and vendor quotes to ensure accuracy across electrical switchboards, switchgear, and custom modular buildings.
  • Labor & Engineering Estimation: Calculate estimated labor hours for fabrication, painting, assembly, and wiring, incorporating necessary design engineering hours.
  • Quotation Generation: Produce formal customer quotations and partner with the Applications Team to establish appropriate markups and strategic pricing.
  • Business Collaboration: Provide accurate cost models and margin data to leadership to support strategic revenue and profitability targets.
  • Lead by Example: Build and audit robust pricing tools to ensure consistency and accuracy across all outgoing bids while continually driving department process improvements.


What You'll Bring to the Team:
  • Educational & Practical Experience: Bachelor's or Associate degree in Engineering, Technology, Construction Management, or a related field with 4+ years of estimating experience; OR 5-8 years of direct experience in estimating, costing, and technical sales in an engineered-to-order manufacturing environment.
  • Technical Domain Knowledge: Required technical knowledge in the production and assembly of electrical enclosures, low/medium voltage switchboards, and switchgear to accurately scope and cost projects.
  • Communication Skills: Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with meticulous attention to detail when documenting technical scopes and proposals.
  • Software Proficiency: Solid proficiency with MS Office Suite and Google Workspace tools; comfort using digital tools for data analysis and quoting.
  • Collaborative Work Ethic: Team player with a strong sense of urgency, high adaptability, and a proactive mindset to manage multiple concurrent project quotes.
  • Safety & Compliance: This position is designated a safety-sensitive position and/or is located in a safety-sensitive facility. Drug and alcohol program participation is required.


Bonus Points:
  • Experience using Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems, specifically Acumatica.
  • Specialized knowledge of modular electrical buildings (e-houses / PDCs), industrial controls, or automation systems.
  • Familiarity with interpreting National Electrical Code (NEC) requirements as they apply to quotation documentation.

Compensation:

Compensation will be paid in the range of $126,000 - $153,000 + Bonus. Restricted Stock Units are included in all offers. Compensation to be determined by the applicant's education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data.
