Full Job Description
POSITION SUMMARY
Performs a variety of professional level accounting duties involved in preparing, maintaining,
analyzing, verifying, and reconciling complex financial transactions, statements, records, and
reports; maintains the accuracy of the Properties ledgers financial systems; assists in the
preparation and reconciliation of assigned reports, year-end tax, and year end closing. This position
will report to the Controller.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
In addition to all components of the above position summary the following "Essential Duties and
Responsibilities" are essential to successful performance in this position
• Ensure financial records are maintained in compliance with Generally Accepted
Accounting Practices (GAAP) and corporate policies and procedures.
• Compiles, calculates, and balances accounting information for a specific set of accounts
from various sources and prepares account entries i.e. Daily, Monthly and Yearly Journal
Entries.
• Prepares and posts receipts, journals, Charge batches, AP and reports ensuring
transactions are properly and accurately recorded in a timely manner but not limited to
and including other responsibilities as required by Controller.
• Sets up and maintains accurate and complete accounting records, files and supporting
documentation.
• Maintains General Ledger (Income Statement & Balance Sheet Accounts) verifies and
reconciles data and processes correcting entries as needed.
• Participates in monthly closing; analyzes General Ledger details, prepares variance
reports.
• Ensures and adheres to accounting and property deadlines as instructed by the Controller
or other Senior Management. Make certain all financial reporting deadlines are met.
• Performs routine analysis of accounting data, may interpret information, and make
recommendations or inferences relative to findings.
• Assists with monthly review of financial statement process and submits every 15th of the
month; identifies and reports major variances in revenue and expenses to the Controller.
• Acts as liaison with other peers and third-party individuals to provide accounting
information and respond to their inquiries throughout the year.
• Responds to the Business Office Manager inquiries in a timely manner.
• Reviews current procedures and provides feedback to improve effectiveness of the
accounting department.
ADDED RESPONSIBILITIES
• Respond appropriately to changes in the work setting.
• Be familiar with the Savant Senior Living Policies & Procedures Manual and Savant
Senior Living Associate Handbook.
• Perform other related assignments as required.
• Attend required in-service training.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
• The incumbent in this position does not have any direct supervision.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/CREDENTIALS
• At least 18 years of age.
• Required Criminal Record Clearance.
• Any special licenses, certifications, and certificates (First Aid/ CPR Certified)
• Bachelor's degree in accounting or 2 years of experience in Accounting, preferably both.
• A working knowledge of payroll processing for up to 300 employees, using an automated
payroll system.
• A working knowledge of federal and State payroll and tax laws and regulations, and basic
accounting principles.
• Strong personal computer skills including data entry, transmission of data, formatting of
routine accounting reports, preparation of spreadsheets, and word processing.
• Ability to calculate accurately and efficiently, including ten-key skills by touch.
• Ability to be flexible and work in a changing environment.
• Effective communication skills, both oral and written.
• Ability to work independently and make mature business decisions.
