Soni is seeking a highly detail-oriented and experienced
Sr. Staff Accountant to join our growing retail accounting team. This role will be responsible for managing daily accounting operations, preparing accurate financial statements, and supporting month-end and year-end close processes. The ideal candidate will have strong knowledge of GAAP, retail operations, and inventory accounting.
Key Responsibilities: - Prepare and review monthly journal entries, account reconciliations, and accruals.
- Maintain general ledger accuracy and integrity.
- Support monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes.
- Analyze financial statements and identify trends or variances.
- Assist in preparation of internal and external financial reports.
- Monitor and reconcile inventory transactions across multiple retail locations.
- Partner with operations, inventory, and purchasing departments to resolve discrepancies.
- Ensure sales, use tax, and other compliance requirements are met for retail operations.
- Review and support accounts payable and accounts receivable functions as needed.
- Assist with year-end audits and liaise with external auditors.
- Identify process improvement opportunities and implement best practices.
- Mentor junior accounting staff.
Qualifications: - Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required.
- CPA or CPA track preferred.
- 3-5 years of accounting experience, preferably in a retail or multi-unit environment.
- Strong understanding of US GAAP.
- Experience with retail accounting systems (e.g., NetSuite, QuickBooks, Microsoft Dynamics, Oracle, etc.).
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel; experience with pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, and large data sets.
- Strong attention to detail, organizational, and time management skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and in a team-oriented environment.
Preferred Skills: - Knowledge of inventory accounting principles (FIFO, LIFO, weighted average, shrink).
- Experience with POS systems and sales reconciliation.
- Multi-entity or multi-location accounting experience.
- Experience in ERP implementation or system upgrades is a plus.
Compensation: $75,000-$90,000
Salary is based on a range of factors that include relevant experience, knowledge, skills, other job-related qualifications.
