Full Job Description
ABOUT THE ROLE

This role sits at a flagship client account in Boston, a high-profile environment with its own culture, stakeholder relationships, and definition of excellence. It's a client with high expectations and a brand identity that runs through every interaction your team has.

You're running a full operation, with its own service lines, vendor relationships, budget accountability, and client point of contact. Events are a significant part of the scope, but they sit on top of a full-time commitment to making the building perform at a premium standard every single day.

Your team delivers concierge experience, VIP and high-profile event management, reception, and facilities services. You hire for it, train for it, set the standard for it, and hold the line when pressure builds. You are the person the client calls when something is complicated, and the person who makes the call when it is.

The complexity is real. Senior stakeholders expect a consistently premium experience, and the site expects to feel like your full-time focus. Day to day, this is a standard on-site work week; evenings and weekends come up specifically around high-profile events, not as a general expectation of after-hours availability. The client's brand lives in every interaction your team has, and you're accountable for all of it.

The upside: this is a role with real scope and visibility. Flagship, high-profile accounts attract operators who want to do this work at the highest level. If you want to build something (a team, a standard, a reputation), this is one of the fastest ways to show what you're capable of.

One more thing that won't show up anywhere else in this posting: this is one of the coolest event spaces in the city. We can't get into specifics about who you'll be working alongside, but expect to interact with VIPs on a regular basis, people you never thought you'd meet.

WHAT YOU'RE ULTIMATELY ACCOUNTABLE FOR

  • The performance and standards of a flagship account across every service line: experience, events, reception, and facilities.
  • The team you build. Every hire, every coaching conversation, and every performance standard held or let slide comes back to you, not HR and not your manager.
  • Every VIP and high-profile event that runs through the account, start to finish, including the ones that go sideways.
  • The budget and vendor relationships for the site, including full ownership of the outcome, not just visibility into the numbers.
  • How the client's senior stakeholders feel about their partnership with CBRE. That impression is built entirely on what your team delivers day to day.
  • Safety, compliance, and business continuity at the site, including playbooks that stay current and continuity plans that actually get tested, not just filed away.

A TYPICAL DAY MIGHT LOOK LIKE

You arrive early enough to walk the site before the building fills, a quick loop to confirm spaces are show-ready, team members are in position, and nothing is quietly wrong before the day starts. You kick off with a brief sync with your leads to align on the event load and any VIP arrivals. By mid-morning you're moving between a vendor negotiation on catering costs, a coaching conversation with a team member growing into a supervisor role, and a call with a senior client stakeholder debriefing last week's board meeting.

In the afternoon you review a run sheet for a high-profile event later in the week, sign off on a process improvement your team drafted for the reception workflow, and spend time on the floor: present, visible, available. Before you leave, you check the weekend coverage plan, update your tracker, and send a quick note to the team that executed a difficult event well. That last part takes two minutes. It matters more than most of what took hours.

WINNING IN THIS ROLE MEANS

  • The client trusts you, not just with logistics but with judgment. They ask for your read on things.
  • Your team is strong, stable, and developing. Turnover is low because people feel genuinely invested in and led well.
  • Every high-profile event closes without incident, and when something does go sideways, the client barely knows it happened.
  • The site runs to a consistently high standard, day in and day out.
  • Vendors are managed, contracts are current, and the budget is yours to run, not just report on.
  • Your playbooks are live, current, and actually used, not documents that exist to satisfy an audit.

YOU'LL LOVE THIS ROLE AND SUCCEED AT IT IF

  • You are a hospitality operator at heart. You've run high-volume, high-stakes environments before, hotels, premium events, or flagship corporate accounts, and you've internalized what excellent looks like at pace. You don't need to be told when something is off. You feel it.
  • You lead people in a way that makes them better. Coaching isn't something you schedule once a quarter, and neither is accountability. You set clear goals, give direct feedback (the encouraging kind and the hard kind), and manage performance closely enough to make the tough calls: coaching someone up, or moving someone out when it's the right thing for the team. People who've worked for you will tell you that you're the best manager they've ever had, and that you never let standards slide.
  • You're calm when it counts. Demanding clients, competing priorities, and events that don't go to plan don't rattle you. They focus you. You make good decisions under pressure and communicate clearly when the stakes are high.
  • You own the whole operation. You're not someone who manages experience and hands off facilities to someone else. You understand that a building performs as a system, and you feel accountable for all of it, even the parts that aren't technically yours.
  • You build client relationships, not just client satisfaction scores. The stakeholders at your account are senior and discerning. You know how to earn their confidence, maintain it over time, and have honest conversations when something needs to change.

THIS MIGHT NOT BE THE RIGHT ROLE FOR YOU IF

  • Your background is primarily in facilities or property management and hospitality is something you've observed rather than run. The daily rhythm here will feel foreign.
  • You prefer working behind the scenes. This role puts you in front of senior stakeholders regularly, and if you'd rather stay heads-down, the visibility will feel like pressure rather than opportunity.
  • Events aren't a core strength. A significant portion of this role is high-pressure event execution, and if that's not where you do your best work, this will be a grind.
  • You prefer predictable schedules. Evening and weekend work comes up for high-profile events, and when it does, it's part of the job, not optional.
  • You manage up well but struggle to manage out. Holding performance standards on a team delivering premium service in a high-visibility environment requires the willingness to have hard conversations, including decisions about who stays on the team.

REQUIREMENTS

  • 5-8 years of relevant experience in hospitality, workplace experience, or high-volume events management
  • Demonstrated experience leading and developing teams: hiring, coaching, performance management
  • Experience managing vendor relationships, budgets, and contract negotiations
  • Availability for occasional evenings and weekends around high-profile events
  • High school diploma or GED required; bachelor's degree preferred

STRONG PREFERENCES

  • Prior experience at a flagship, VIP, or high-profile client account
  • Experience managing hard and soft facilities services in tandem with hospitality or experience delivery
  • Familiarity with event planning software (Momentus or similar), facilities CMMS, and budgeting/PO tools
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Slack, and Airtable

LOCATION

This role is based in Boston, MA and requires full-time, on-site presence at the client location. The core schedule is on-site business hours, with evenings and weekends required around high-profile events.
