Description
Who we are looking for...We are seeking a Senior Water Resources Engineer to lead hydrologic and hydraulic (H&H) efforts across a wide range of land development projects.
We are looking for someone who has successfully delivered projects from concept through permitting and into construction-someone who understands how modeling decisions impact grading, cost, and constructability, and can apply that knowledge in a practical, real-world way.
You will play a key role in shaping site design, guiding project strategy, and helping clients navigate complex regulatory environments
- Lead hydrologic and hydraulic design from concept through permitting and construction support
- Develop practical, buildable stormwater and flood mitigation solutions-not just theoretical models
- Prepare and oversee H&H analyses using tools such as ICPR, HEC-RAS, and SWMM
- Design and evaluate stormwater treatment systems to meet state and local regulatory requirements, including nutrient reduction and water quality criteria
- Design stormwater treatment systems to meet FDEP, WMD, and local regulatory requirements
- Build defensible models using real-world data, GIS inputs, and sound engineering judgment
- Collaborate closely with civil/site teams to align grading, drainage, utilities, and permitting strategies
- Support projects during construction by responding to RFIs, reviewing field conditions, and adjusting designs as needed
- Serve as a technical leader and internal resource for water resources across multiple projects
- Mentor junior staff and provide quality control on modeling and design deliverables
- Translate complex H&H analyses into clear, actionable insights for clients and stakeholders
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering
- PE license in Florida (or ability to obtain within 12 months)
- 8+ years of experience in hydrologic/hydraulic engineering within land development or related fields
- Proven track record of projects that have been permitted and constructed
- Strong experience with ICPR and BMPTrains (HEC-RAS, SWMM a plus)
- Experience with FEMA permitting and floodplain coordination (preferred)
- Proficiency with ArcGIS for data development and model inputs
- Familiarity with Civil 3D (preferred, not required)
- Strong communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical audiences
What you'll need to be successful...Success in this job relies on your time management skills, organization, and positive attitude. In addition, you'll need the following qualifications:
• Ability to collaborate with local, state, and federal review agencies.
• Strong critical thinking and judgment to evaluate solutions and make decisions.
• Excellent communication and organizational skills.
• Strong time management skills to deliver projects on schedule and within budget.
• A proactive, positive, and team-oriented approach.
