Description

The Senior Vice President & Chief Financial Officer (CFO) is the senior leader responsible for all financial actions and planning for Bristol Bay Native Corporation (BBNC). The CFO provides strategic financial leadership across the enterprise, building resilient growth through partnership and performance. This senior role directs and oversees aspects of the company's financial functions, including accounting, tax, risk, treasury, and financial analysis. The CFO ensures the integrity of all financial reporting, strengthens the company's financial position, and serves as a strategic partner to the Executive Team, Board of Directors, and operational leaders to drive sustainable profitability and shareholder value.

Responsibilities

Financial Strategy and Capital Management:
  • Develop and execute the corporation's financial strategy in alignment with its long-term strategic goals.
  • Direct treasury and capital management activities, including optimizing the capital structure, managing banking relationships, and securing financing for growth initiatives.
  • Co-manage BBNC's Alternative Investment Portfolio with the EVP and COO.


Accounting, Budgeting, and Forecasting:
  • Oversee all accounting operations, ensuring the integrity, accuracy, and timeliness of financial statements and reporting in compliance with GAAP and other regulatory requirements.
  • Lead the annual budget process, manage cost-control initiatives, and direct financial analysis and forecasting to provide insight into business performance.


Risk, Tax, and Internal Controls:
  • Lead the enterprise risk management framework to identify, assess, and mitigate financial and business risks.
  • Oversee all corporate tax planning and compliance to optimize BBNC's tax position.
  • In partnership with Risk, oversee the internal audit function to ensure robust financial controls and operational efficiencies across the organization.

  • Assigned matters have a direct and significant impact on BBNC's financial health, strategic direction, and shareholder value. Requires exceptional autonomy and leadership.
  • Drive financial discipline, accountability, and strategic partnership across all corporate departments and platform companies.
  • Promote a culture of performance, data-driven decision-making, and financial integrity.
  • Interact with senior stakeholders including the Board of Directors, audit committee, investors, lenders, and government agencies.


Skills/Abilities
  • Exceptional strategic leadership and financial acumen, with a proven ability to link financial strategy to business goals.
  • Deep expertise in corporate finance, accounting, M&A, capital markets, private equity and risk management for a complex, diversified holding company.
  • Strong analytical skills and a data-driven approach to decision-making.
  • Demonstrated ability to serve as a strategic business partner to other executive and senior leadership team members. Superior communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey complex financial information to diverse audiences.
  • Unquestionable ethics, integrity, and commitment to transparent financial stewardship.
  • Adept at leading and developing high-performing finance and accounting teams.
  • Proven negotiation skills in dealing with lenders, partners, and acquisition targets.


Requirements

  • Minimum of 15 years of progressive financial leadership experience, with at least 7 years in a senior role (e.g., CEO, CFO, VP of Finance) for an organization of comparable size and complexity.
  • Extensive experience reporting to a President & CEO and working directly with a Board of Directors and audit committee.
  • Deep understanding of the Alaska Native Claims Settlement Act (ANCSA) and the financial, tax, and regulatory environment for Alaska Native Corporations is required.
  • Proven track record in managing M&A, leading debt and equity financing efforts, and overseeing financial operations for a multi-entity enterprise.
  • Willing and able to travel as needed.
