As a Sr Trader I, Cushing Crude, you'll serve as a senior individual contributor with significant responsibility for shaping commercial outcomes across the Cushing crude oil hub and advancing our crude trading strategy. This role calls for crude oil market expertise, strong commercial judgment, and the ability to lead through influence in highly complex and competitive environments. You'll be expected to independently manage sophisticated physical and financial commercial situations, along with helping set direction through market insight and strategic perspective.

What You'll Do
  • Lead the purchase, sale, and exchange of domestic and international crude oils and related blendstocks by identifying, structuring, and executing complex commercial opportunities in and around the Cushing hub within established limits and strategic priorities.
  • Collaborate across internal teams to solve complex commercial, operational, and logistical challenges, share market intelligence, and help align stakeholders around customer-focused and value-driven crude oil solutions.
  • Act as a senior individual contributor and informal leader by sharing knowledge, mentoring others, and elevating crude oil commercial thinking and execution across the team.
  • Partner with Market Analytics to develop and drive enterprise market analytical capability.
  • Analyze short- and long-term crude oil market dynamics, including production, refinery demand, pipeline and terminal capacity, storage, imports and exports, quality specifications, basis differentials, benchmark relationships, and pricing structures, to shape trading strategy, inform decision-making, and maximize value capture.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with producers, refiners, pipeline and storage operators, terminal operators, exporters, brokers, consumers, traders, and other market participants, serving as a senior commercial representative and key connection between trading, operations, scheduling, risk, and logistics teams.
  • Evaluate daily P&L and risk positions, assess physical and financial market exposure across Cushing and related domestic and global crude markets, and apply expert economic reasoning to guide decisions, protect value, and maintain compliance with trading policies.
  • Interpret regulatory requirements, tariffs, contract terms, and crude oil quality specifications; lead resolution of complex crude contracts and compliance matters; and ensure commercial activities align with required standards, strategic objectives, and performance expectations.
  • Contribute meaningfully to business planning by assessing crude oil market trends, identifying strategic opportunities across the Midcontinent, Gulf Coast, and broader domestic and export markets, and informing commercial approaches that support growth, portfolio optimization, and competitive positioning.
  • Model commercial scenarios and drive asset and portfolio optimization efforts involving inventory, storage, transportation, blending, quality, and market optionality, providing high-value insights that help the organization respond decisively to changing crude oil market conditions.
  • Build and utilize knowledge on crude oil fundamentals, Cushing and WTI pricing, storage and pipeline infrastructure, Midcontinent and Gulf Coast market developments, export flows, and industry trends; recommend improvements that strengthen commercial performance, organizational decision-making, and market responsiveness.
  • Represent the organization with credibility in the crude oil market and help strengthen external partnerships through consistent, high-quality commercial engagement.
  • Travel as needed, including occasional overnight trips, to maintain market presence and support external relationships.
