This role is part of Blue Origin Operations, which is comprised of Integrated Supply Chain, Test Operations, Safety, Quality, and Mission Assurance. This includes Manufacturing and Supply Chain support across all Blue Origin facilities.
This role is part of the Blue Origin TEAM, where our focus is the design, development, manufacturing, and testing of Cryogenic systems. Built for multiple uses, our family of next generation of rockets for commercial, civil, national security, and human spaceflight. Your contributions will help ensure test readiness, data quality, and system reliability - directly supporting safe human spaceflight and sustained lunar exploration.
We are seeking a Senior Test Technician with deep expertise in helium mass spectrometry leak detection to support the inspection and qualification of cryogenic and high-pressure systems. In this role, you will ensure the integrity of critical propulsion and fluid systems, directly contributing to safe and reliable flight hardware.
This position will directly impact the history of space exploration and will require your commitment and detailed attention towards safe and repeatable space flight. Join us in lowering the cost of access to space and enabling Blue Origin's vision of millions of people living and working in space to benefit Earth.
Responsibilities- Perform and lead helium mass spectrometry leak detection on cryogenic and high-pressure components, assemblies, and integrated systems
- Develop, refine, and validate leak test procedures, acceptance criteria, and work instructions
- Operate, calibrate, and maintain helium mass spectrometer leak detectors and associated vacuum/pressurization equipment
- Diagnose and troubleshoot leak paths in welds, joints, seals, and fittings; recommend corrective actions
- Interpret leak rate data and document results in compliance with engineering specifications and quality requirements
- Provide technical mentorship and training to junior technicians and engineers
- Collaborate with design, manufacturing, and quality teams to improve leak-tightness of hardware
- Ensure adherence to safety protocols when handling cryogenics, testing high-pressure gases, and vacuum systems
- Support root cause investigations for leak-related nonconformances
Minimum Qualifications- 8+ years of hands-on experience with helium mass spectrometry leak detection (vacuum and pressure/sniffer methods)
- 8+ years of hands-on experience with instrumentation and data acquisition systems, including configuration, calibration, and monitoring (such as pressure, temperature, strain, and environmental sensors)
- Strong understanding of vacuum technology, gas flow, and leak rate fundamentals
- Experience testing cryogenic and/or high-pressure fluid systems
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, schematics, and specifications

- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
Preferred Qualifications- Experience in aerospace, propulsion, or spaceflight hardware environments
- ASNT Level II or III certification in Leak Testing (LT) or Blue Origin equivalent
- Experience with test data acquisition systems and statistical analysis
- Knowledge of cleanliness requirements for oxygen and propellant systems
- Familiarity with AS9100 systems
