The Sr. Technologist is a technical expert who applies advanced engineering knowledge of systems, processes, and procedures to support product development for metallic prototype samples. The role leads complex engineering activities, develops innovative solutions, and drives improvements in product quality, performance, manufacturability, and development efficiency. Working independently, the Sr. Technologist serves as a subject matter expert, provides technical leadership, collaborates across functions, and contributes to the development of new technologies, methods, and best practices.
Applies skill and dexterity in the development of metallic engineering prototypes, in support of improving products and processes, and new product development.
How you’ll make an impact:
- Provide advanced technical expertise on engineering systems, tools, procedures, and development processes for metallic prototypes.
- Design, build, evaluate, and troubleshooting engineering prototypes to support new product development and technology advancement.
- Perform complex engineering activities to optimize product designs, processes, and system performance.
- Analyze technical data and translate findings into actionable recommendations and engineering solutions.
- Collaborate with Engineering and R&D teams to achieve project objectives in making early phase metallic prototypes.
- Develop and implement innovative solutions for highly complex technical challenges.
- Contributes to the development of new engineering concepts, techniques, procedures, and best practices.
- Provide technical guidance, mentorship, and knowledge transfer to engineers, technicians, and technologists.

- Ability to design early phase tools/fixtures as an aid to help make the prototypes
What you'll need (Required):
H.S. Diploma or equivalent plus 10 Years experience in prototype or new product development environment is required
Associate's Degree or equivalent in trade school medical device industry preferred, with experience and exposure to the operation of virtually all relevant machinery preferred
What else we look for (Preferred):
CAD or drafting program knowledge
Experience in using MS Office
Substantial knowledge and ability to program CNC machinery and/or lasers
Metal working ability to build a wide variety of parts
Knowledge of material compatibility with medical device regulatory requirements
Apply knowledge of processes in the use of machines to ensure successful outcomes, as well as to devise process changes
Good communication skills
Able to read, comprehend, speak, and write English
Adhere to Edwards Environmental Health and Safety guidelines as they relate to machine operation and manufacturing facilities
Must be able to work with minimum supervision
Work in a Team environment, including inter-departmental teams

For California (CA), the base pay range for this position is $86,000 to $118,000 (highly experienced).
