POSITION SUMMARY

The Sr. Technical Solution Specialist serves as the primary technical authority for the Power Business Unit during deployment of OneCore and future integrated infrastructure platforms. This position bridges Engineering, Product Management, Deployment, Quality, Manufacturing, and Global Services to ensure successful implementation of complex power systems from product release through customer operation.

This role requires an individual capable of leading technical discussions across multiple engineering disciplines while driving startup success, customer satisfaction, product quality, and continuous improvement. The successful candidate will operate comfortably from executive customer meetings to detailed engineering design reviews, providing leadership during the most technically challenging deployments across the globe.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Lead technical support for OneCore, SmartRun2, AI-ready data center infrastructure, and integrated power systems, including UPS, switchgear, power distribution, busway, static transfer switches (STS), battery energy storage systems (BESS), DC power systems, and monitoring platforms.
  • Serve as the primary technical liaison between Deployment, Engineering, Quality, Product Management, Manufacturing, and Global Service organizations to resolve complex system-level technical issues.
  • Lead and coordinate multidisciplinary technical investigations involving electrical, controls, software, networking, communications, mechanical, and monitoring systems to ensure successful deployment of OneCore solutions.
  • Work closely with R&D, Offering, and Product Engineering teams to integrate new technologies and product enhancements into OneCore, SmartRun2, AI infrastructure, DC power applications, and future integrated data center solutions.
  • Provide technical leadership during Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), Integrated System Testing (IST), Site Acceptance Testing (SAT), commissioning, startup, and hypercare activities throughout the deployment lifecycle.
  • Develop, maintain, and continuously improve startup procedures, commissioning methodologies, technical documentation, troubleshooting guides, and deployment best practices for OneCore products and reference architectures.
  • Lead technical resolution of complex field issues involving power systems, controls, PLCs, communications, monitoring platforms, firmware integration, utility interfaces, and system interoperability.
  • Support critical customer deployments by providing onsite technical leadership, executive customer engagement, and coordination of cross-functional engineering resources to ensure successful project execution.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on reducing startup duration, improving first-pass startup success, reducing field escalations, and increasing deployment efficiency.
  • Collaborate with Product Engineering to identify product improvements, improve serviceability, and incorporate lessons learned from field deployments into future product releases.
  • Support Root Cause Analysis (RCA), Failure Analysis (FA), corrective actions, and quality improvement initiatives for critical customer and product issues.
  • Lead technical reviews of electrical system architecture, control sequences, protection coordination, monitoring integration, and commissioning strategies to ensure operational readiness and system reliability.
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to regional service engineers, deployment teams, and technical support personnel while promoting technical excellence across the organization.
  • Travel domestically and internationally to support customer escalations, product deployments, engineering validation activities, factory support, commissioning, and executive customer meetings.
  • Monitor emerging technologies and industry trends related to AI infrastructure, integrated power systems, energy storage, grid-interactive technologies, digital monitoring, and modular data center solutions, recommending improvements to Vertiv products and deployment methodologies.
  • Stay current with applicable electrical codes, industry standards, commissioning best practices, and new product releases to ensure technical excellence and operational readiness.


QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Qualifications: (education, experience level, knowledge, skills, certifications).
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems Engineering, Computer Engineering, Data Center Engineering, or a related technical discipline required. Master's degree is preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience supporting, designing, commissioning, or troubleshooting mission-critical power infrastructure within data center, utility, industrial, or mission-critical environments.
  • Demonstrated expertise in large-scale electrical power systems including:
    • UPS systems
    • Medium and low-voltage switchgear
    • Power Distribution Units (PDU)
    • Static Transfer Switches (STS)
    • Busway
    • Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS)
    • DC Power Systems
    • Generator integration
    • Utility interconnections
  • Strong understanding of electrical distribution architecture, system integration, power quality, grounding, protection coordination, and mission-critical infrastructure.
  • Working knowledge of industrial controls, PLCs, HMI/SCADA systems, networking, communications protocols, and monitoring platforms used within modern data centers.
  • Demonstrated experience leading Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), Site Acceptance Testing (SAT), Integrated System Testing (IST), startup, commissioning, and operational readiness activities.
  • Proven ability to troubleshoot complex multidisciplinary issues involving electrical, controls, firmware, software, networking, and integrated system architectures.
  • Experience supporting executive customer escalations and leading technical discussions with engineering teams, contractors, consultants, and hyperscale customers.
