The Tax Senior Analyst is responsible for supporting all areas of the company’s corporate tax department in areas of tax return compliance, income tax provision and financial reporting, accounting processes and controls, and overall tax planning. Successful candidates will be detail oriented, proactive, able to learn quickly, and able to work well with other teams within the company. Occasional travel to attend trainings or meetings may be required. This position reports to the AVP of Corporate Tax and collaborates with others on the Corporate Tax Team. This position also works collaboratively with external service providers, team members in Finance, and various other departments throughout the organization.
What you’ll be doing (Job Duties & Responsibilities)
- Prepare quarterly and annual income tax provision calculations in accordance with ASC 740, and prepare related tax disclosures for SEC reporting.
- Prepare federal, state, and local income tax filings and supporting calculations, including estimates and extensions, and ensure timely filing. Assist with filing of the returns as assigned.
- Prepare other indirect tax filings including personal property tax, franchise tax, and sales and use tax. Assist with filing of the returns as assigned.
- Research and respond to tax notices from federal, state, and local tax authorities.
- Collaborate with the company’s payroll function to ensure proper compliance with payroll tax reporting obligations.
- Maintain current knowledge of tax laws and financial and accounting guidance, and stay current with new and developing tax legislation having a tax impact on the company.
- Ensure tax files and documentation are properly maintained for compliance under SOX 404 regulations.
- Conduct tax research and prepare technical memoranda on certain tax matters.
- Support the company with M&A tax diligence, strategy, and integration efforts.
- Support the company with its research and development tax credit study and analysis.
What you will need to be successful (Skills, Knowledge, & Experience)
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting is required.
- Master’s degree in Taxation highly preferred.
- An active CPA license required.
- Knowledge of corporate accounting.
- 2+ years of tax experience in public accounting and/or a corporate tax department.
- A strong, hands-on knowledge of tax research tools such as CCH is recommended.
- Familiarity with Corptax, Bloomberg tax depreciation software, and NetSuite is recommended
- Proficiency with business and communications software (e.g., Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Copilot, and Outlook) is required.
- Self-starting and motivated, able to work without supervision to prioritize and meet deadlines.
- Excellent organizational and analytical skills, high attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple projects at once.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills to collaborate with the broader team, including external advisors.

Salary Range$79500.00 To $105000/ year

Onboarding & Travel
This is a remote role, with an in-person onboarding training component. New team members must participate in Trailhead, HealthEquity’s immersive onboarding experience Trailhead is designed to foster meaningful connections, support your integration into the organization, and equip you with a strong understanding of our business. Trailhead participation is a key expectation of this role. Trailhead is held onsite at our headquarters once per quarter. HealthEquity covers all required travel and accommodations.
This role may begin with a virtual, self-paced onboarding experience, followed by a mandatory onsite Trailhead session at a later date.
