What You'll DoLead Tax Compliance- Prepare and review federal, state, and local tax filings, including income, franchise, and insurance premium tax returns.
- Manage tax calendars, estimated payments, extensions, and filing deadlines.
- Coordinate with external tax advisors and auditors to support compliance activities.
Own Tax Provision & Financial Reporting- Prepare quarterly and annual income tax provisions in accordance with ASC 740.
- Maintain supporting workpapers, deferred tax calculations, effective tax rate analyses, and financial statement disclosures.
- Support internal and external audit requests with timely, accurate documentation.
Manage Audits & Regulatory Inquiries- Serve as a key point of contact for tax notices, audits, and inquiries from federal and state authorities.
- Partner with external advisors to develop responses and drive issues to resolution.
Partner Across the Business- Collaborate with Accounting, FP&A, Legal, and Operations to assess tax implications and support business initiatives.
- Assist with regulatory, financial audit, and Medicare Advantage-related data requests.
Research & Advise- Monitor tax legislation, regulatory developments, and IRS guidance.
- Translate complex tax issues into practical recommendations for Finance leadership.
- Coordinate with external advisors on technical tax matters.
Improve Processes & Controls- Identify opportunities to enhance tax processes, automation, and compliance workflows.
- Support SOX compliance efforts and maintain audit-ready documentation.
- Utilize tax and ERP platforms including OneSource, CorpTax, Oracle, and Workday.
Additional duties and special projects as assigned.QualificationsRequired:- 4 to 6 years of relevant tax experience in public accounting or a corporate tax department
- Demonstrated hands-on experience preparing and reviewing income tax provisions under ASC 740
- Practical experience managing multi-state tax compliance, including exposure to insurance or franchise taxes
- Experience supporting external auditors and tax advisors with documentation and technical analysis
Preferred- Located in Orange County, CA as role is Hybrid as needed
- Prior experience in the healthcare, managed care, or insurance industry, with Medicare Advantage exposure strongly preferred
- Experience working within a regulated payer or health plan environment
- Exposure to insurance premium tax filings, statutory (STAT) reporting, or CMS-facing financial processes
EducationRequired- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a closely related field
- Equivalent combination of education and directly relevant experience may be considered
Preferred- Master's degree in Taxation (MST)
- Coursework or specialized study in healthcare finance, insurance accounting, or regulatory compliance
Technical SkillsRequired- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including pivot tables, modeling, and data analysis
- Working knowledge of at least one major tax compliance software platform (e.g., OneSource, CorpTax) and ERP system (e.g., Oracle, Workday, SAP)
Preferred- Training in SOX compliance, internal controls, or finance process improvement
- Familiarity with tax technology automation tools or AI-assisted compliance workflows
LicensureRequired- Active Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license
Preferred- No additional licensure is required for this individual contributor role; however, maintenance of the CPA credential is expected

Pay Range: $85,696 - $128,543
Pay range may be based on several factors including market location, education, responsibilities, experience, etc.
