DescriptionWe are seeking a full-time Sr Tax Accountant to join our Mineola, NY tax office. The Sr Tax Accountant is responsible for preparing tax returns for individuals and small businesses, delivering related accounting services, and advising clients on tax-related matters. This role also oversees daily financial transactions and ensures the accuracy and integrity of financial records. In addition, the Sr Tax Accountant serves as a trusted advisor to clients, providing strategic financial and tax guidance while overseeing the work of junior staff to ensure the accurate and timely completion of projects. The expected base salary range for this position is $85,000 - $110,000 annually.
Duties of this position include, but are not limited to the following:- Conduct client consultations to assess financial needs and gather information
- Prepare tax returns and ensure timely processing of tax payments
- Manage bookkeeping, general ledger entries, and transaction records
- Reconcile accounts payable and receivable and maintain accurate financial statements
- Review financial data for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with regulations
- Analyze financial performance and assist with forecasting and budgeting
- Ensure adherence to accounting standards and current tax laws
- Maintain strict confidentiality and protect client financial data
- Research and respond to client inquiries on tax and accounting matters
- Recommend solutions and services that align with client needs
- Supervise and mentor junior staff on accounting and tax projects
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Education, Experience, and Skills required:- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- Minimum of five years of related experience, preferably in a financial services or tax preparation environment
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.)
- Strong multitasking ability and independent problem-solving skills
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to clearly communicate accounting and tax concepts to clients
- Professional demeanor with a positive, team-oriented attitude
