Full Job Description
As a Sr. Systems Engineer at Reliable Robotics, you will be a part of the System Development team and will report to the Director of System Development. The System Development Team is responsible for Mission Definition, System Architecture, Development Assurance & Safety Engineering.

As part of an experienced multi-disciplinary team, you will help solve the key technical and certification challenges to deploying certified Unmanned Aircraft. Your professional experience in system design, development and safety engineering will further strengthen the company's ability to meet the rigorous expectations of stakeholders and certification authorities. You will collaborate with members from other groups within Reliable Robotics to develop new and novel systems, processes and tools necessary for unmanned aircraft operations and help to grow the company's overall system engineering capabilities.

Responsibilities

In your role as Sr. Systems Engineer you will be involved in all system development aspects of our prototypes and certifiable safety critical flight systems. This will involve the following activities:
  • Define & deliver development plans, process, work instructions, training.
  • Develop new and novel methods, techniques or processes.
  • Technically lead significant areas of the program across system requirements, design, validation and verification:
  • Act as a subject matter expert in your respective domain area.
  • Lead cross functional RCCAs, Trade studies, Integral Process.
  • Perform trades studies to assess performance, complexity, risk, and cost of competing technical solutions.
  • Define and support the execution of the system activities according to ARP-4754 guidance


Basic Success Criteria
  • Bachelor's Degree of Science or Engineering in Mechanical, Electrical, Aerospace, or related discipline, or equivalent experience at a minimum
  • Deep system development experience from specifying, designing, integrating and testing multiple complex safety critical avionics certification programs
  • Deep technical experience from concept to implementation across multiple program lifecycles for one of the following system domains: Maintenance Systems, Electrical Power, Propulsion, Avionics, Data Networks, Communication, C2 Link, Navigation, Flight Controls, Landing Gear, Flight Planning, NAS Surveillance (ADS-B)
  • Experience planning, and executing all of the development processes in ARP4754 across multiple programs, including leading system review audits with the airworthiness authorities


Preferred Criteria
  • Advanced Degree of Science or Engineering in Mechanical, Electrical, Aerospace, or related discipline
  • Proven experience leading engagement with airworthiness authorities for new/novel applications, technologies, or means of compliance
  • Experience leading multiple different inter-disciplinary teams through complex architectural trade studies or root cause investigations


We are developing and building high-integrity safety-critical systems for automated flight, and your role is critical to what we do at Reliable Robotics. With the support of the entire team, you will be instrumental in developing the systems designs and lifecycle data that demonstrates our system is safe and error free.

This role can be remote, or located at our facility in Mountain View, California.

Must be willing to travel 20% of the time.
