Job Responsibilities:

As a Sr. Systems and Test Engineer, you are involved in a variety of internal and customer facing tasks including management of various engineering projects which may entail design documentation, systems engineering, process and procedure documentation, engineering validation and verification, system certification, production, and much more. You will work side by side with Program Managers, and various Viasat Engineering disciplines within a multifunctional team. With this team you will find practical solutions meeting both internal and customer requirements. You need to be energetic, enthusiastic, and have the courage to think creatively, and communicate outside-the-box ideas effectively. You will be driving projects which require integrated teams across Government and Industry partners, balancing stakeholder needs with the art of the possible. You are involved in the complete lifecycle of projects, and products as well. To that end you may drive the vision for products, incorporating market feedback to create a clear roadmap and product strategy. Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related technical discipline
  • 3+ years' experience with communications systems, test engineering, or systems engineering
  • Working knowledge of IP/Networking equipment, and RF/Digital communications subsystems, including configuration, application, and troubleshooting.
  • Proven debugging and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communications capabilities
  • Proven experience as a leader, especially with collaboration across multidisciplinary teams including internal groups, vendors, subcontractors, and partners
  • Deep understanding and experience with system engineering processes from requirements definition to system verification test activities
  • Ability to drive roadmap, strategy, and requirements management to achieve priorities
  • Proven ability to conduct project planning, resource planning, and execution
  • U.S. Government position. Ability to obtain U.S. Secret or Top-Secret clearance required
  • Ability to travel up to 20%

Preferences
  • Extensive SATCOM and networking (TCP/IP) experience, especially with respect to control systems, congestion management, and quality of service
  • Expertise with commonly used communications and electrical test equipment (e.g. Oscilloscope, Spectrum Analyzer, Power Meter, traffic generator and others)
  • Demonstrated strong analytical, financial, and strategic skills
  • Experience in pricing, roadmaps, and product strategy
  • Experience in product/portfolio management
  • Experience with resource/project planning tools
