Job Summary

This senior supervisory position leads a team of Landmen and provides strategic direction and leadership within the Exploration Team.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement exploration leasing and acquisition strategies across multiple states and basins
  • Supervise negotiations, acquisition of oil and gas leases, and contract preparation
  • Review and approve purchase and sale agreements, joint development agreements, and joint ventures needed to ensure execution of the company's oil and gas exploration plans
  • Notify management of the company's ownership position, competitor activity, potential legal issues, or other matters via reports, emails, and meetings
  • Coordinate and communicate with representatives from internal departments such as geology, engineering, and operations to ensure that the appropriate steps are taken to meet the company drilling goals and deadlines
  • Supervise the activities of all in-house and field landmen assigned to exploration projects
  • Provides direct and indirect supervision of personnel: participates in decisions involving hiring, promotion, compensation, and termination of employment


Job Specific Skills

  • Advanced knowledge of and ability to apply land management principles including negotiations and leasing
  • Advanced knowledge of and ability to apply laws, legal codes, court procedures, precedents, government regulations, executive orders and agency rules across multiple states
  • Advanced knowledge of and ability to apply oil, gas and mineral laws in various states and affiliated oil and gas leases, deeds, and title curative documents
  • Able to manage large amounts of sensitive information with accuracy and critical attention to detail
  • Knowledge of administrative procedures in order to prepare and maintain reports, budgets, and administrative records as required
  • Ability to provide on-the-job training, performance assessment, coaching, motivation, and counseling to employees to encourage optimum performance and continued skill development
  • Ability to ensure all employees are operating within all Expand, state, and federal guidelines, policies, and regulations


Education

Minimum: Bachelor's degree - from accredited university

Preferred: Bachelor's degree - from accredited university - Energy Management OR

Preferred: Doctoral degree - from accredited university - Juris Doctorate

Preferred: Other - CPL

Experience

Preferred: 5 years related work experience
