Job Summary
In this highly visible and dynamic role, the Sr Innovation Strategy Analyst will work on special projects that support Vistra's Corporate Innovation Strategy. Vistra's Innovation Strategy team is responsible for researching, analyzing, recommending, and leading innovation projects that keep Vistra at the forefront of emerging technologies. This role will play a critical part in analyzing business opportunities, supporting strategic projects, and delivering high-quality insights to senior leadership.

Job Description

Key Accountabilities
• Conduct market analysis, research, and financial modeling to support strategic decision-making related to innovation opportunities.
• Organize and synthesize market, competitor, and project data - particularly in the energy sector (power, utilities, or midstream).
• Coordinate innovation pipeline of early-stage market opportunities and partner with internal and external stakeholders to move projects through stage gate process.
• Evaluate early-stage start-ups and leverage venture capital partnerships to scout, incubate, and commercialize transformational technologies.
• Develop levelized cost models to evaluate new power generation technologies.
• Develop executive-level presentations and materials in PowerPoint.
• Track and report on innovation budget and maintain forecast in partnership with planning team and innovation working groups.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams on strategic projects, ensuring timely and high-quality deliverables.
• Bring structure and clarity to ambiguous situations, producing actionable outputs with minimal direction.

Education, Experience, & Skill Requirements
• Education: Bachelor's degree required (Finance, Business, or related field preferred).
• Experience: Minimum 3+ years of relevant professional experience.
• Experience in any of the following areas is required: corporate development/strategy, investment banking, management consulting, private equity/venture capital, innovation strategy, or related field
• Strong proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint; ability to create complex financial models and clear, compelling presentations.
• Excellent communication, organizational, and analytical skills.
• Self-starter mindset with the proven ability to work independently and thrive in uncertain or evolving environments.
• Familiarity with the energy industry (preferably power generation, utilities, or midstream) is preferred.
