Position Description
The Senior Structural Steel Fabrication Estimator is responsible for leading the preparation of conceptual budgets, detailed estimates, negotiated proposals, and competitive bids for structural steel fabrication and erection projects. This position evaluates project drawings, specifications, schedules, contract requirements, constructability considerations, and commercial risks to develop complete and competitive project pricing.
The Senior Estimator also provides design-assist and value-engineering support, participates in project pursuit and pricing decisions, and develops productive relationships with owners, architects, engineers, construction managers, general contractors, and other industry partners. As a senior member of the estimating team, this position establishes estimating standards, reviews the work of other estimators, and provides coaching and technical guidance to less-experienced team members.
Position Requirements
Desired Qualifications:
• Minimum of 10 years of structural steel fabrication estimating experience.
• Strong understanding of structural steel fabrication, detailing, shop operations, and erection
practices.
• Proficiency with Tekla Structures and Bluebeam Revu.
• Demonstrated success developing conceptual budgets, detailed estimates, and negotiated
proposals.
• Experience providing design-assist and preconstruction services.
• Strong client relationship management and business development skills.
• Understanding of design-build, CMAR, negotiated, and traditional hard-bid delivery methods.
• Experience leading, mentoring, or developing estimating personnel.
• Ability to communicate effectively with owners, architects, engineers, contractors, and
internal stakeholders.
• Strong understanding of AISC standards and structural steel industry best practices.
• Excellent written, verbal, organizational, analytical, presentation, and leadership skills.
• Entrepreneurial mindset with a desire to contribute to company growth.
