Your Impact
- Long-Range Architectural Stewardship: You don't just plan for the next sprint; you architect for the next era. You'll anticipate shifts in the identity landscape-such as Passkeys, Decentralized Identity, and Zero Trust-ensuring Uber can pivot without massive rewrites.
- The \\"Force Multiplier\\" Effect: You elevate the entire 120+ person organization. By defining GenAI-driven fraud detection patterns and pioneering \"Identity-as-Code,\" you will reduce complexity and accelerate developer velocity across all of Uber Engineering.
- Cross-Domain Influence: You are the primary bridge between Engineering, Product, and Legal. You'll translate complex global regulations (GDPR, DMA, etc.) into elegant technical solutions that protect users without compromising their experience.
- Operational Excellence at 1B+ Scale: You set the gold standard for reliability. You will oversee systems handling hundreds of thousands of requests per second, ensuring five-nines availability for Uber's most critical path.

Qualifications
Minimum Requirements
- Experience: 12+ years of full-time Software Engineering experience.
- Education: BS or equivalent in Computer Science or a related field.
- Distributed Systems: A proven track record of designing, building, and migrating large-scale backend platforms to hundreds of millions of users.
- Customer-Facing Platforms: Experience scaling SaaS or consumer platforms to a global user base.
Preferred Expertise
- Hyper-Scale: Experience managing systems supporting millons of users
- System Integration: Expertise in connecting complex systems between large-scale, tech-driven enterprises.
- Organizational Leadership: Proven ability to lead high-stakes projects that span across massive, multi-disciplinary organizations.
For Sunnyvale, CA-based roles: The base salary range for this role is USD$267,000 per year - USD$297,000 per year.
You will be eligible to participate in Uber's bonus program, and may be offered an equity award & other types of comp. All full-time employees are eligible to participate in a 401(k) plan.
