Full Job Description
As a member of the Transport, Tracking & Warning (TTW) SDA Portfolio Chief Engineering team, you will be a Chief Engineer supporting the Tranche 0 Transport Layer (T0TL) Program. In the future, this role may also expand into support of the T1TL program as a delegate Chief Engineer and/or Chief Engineer. The Chief Engineering team is the technical authority for the program and works to ensure mission milestones and business objectives are met.
Responsibilities include:
• Member of the SDA portfolio CE team, serve as the T0TL CE in day to day activities
• Serve as primary technical authority / technical interface with internal program management and external customers.
• Ensure proposals have sound technical solutions, schedules, and justification, with appropriate risk management.
• Collaborate across the Lockheed Martin enterprise to define, develop and deliver products with consideration for common products, affordability, and a roadmap for portfolio level success.
• Lead technical teams of cross functional engineers to ensure successful product and system development and execution, across the program life cycle.
• Ensure standard technical methods are in use and implement appropriate engineering processes aligned to mission success and the program profile.
• Demonstrate in-depth technical skills and drive a mission success culture.
• Management and timely resolution of complex issues and the program top technical issues to include assembling teams, providing technical guidance, engaging the enterprise, and communicating with customers.
• Provide timely communications with LM leadership with a focus on placing events and issues in the right broader context (e.g. relative risk, impacts and implications) as the technical execution quality conscious of the program Engineering Practices.
• Responsible for key decision making that impact businesses, the failure to achieve the objectives result in critical impact of program capabilities. Ensures identification of lessons learned and implementation of corrective actions to improve future and ongoing programs. Serve as a key point of contact and advocate for the Engineering team with program management, other program segments / IPTs, external
partners and subcontractors.
Basic Qualifications
• Bachelors Degree in Engineering or related discipline, or equivalent combination of education and experience
• Demonstrated experience as a technical leader, coordinating across multiple teams
• Demonstrated ability to communicate successfully both written and verbally across all levels of an organization from entry level to executive Vice Presidents
• Significant experience in a complex engineering role on spacecraft, missile, or related systems
• Detailed knowledge of engineering and program planning throughout development, design, build, test, and integration phases
• U.S. citizenship with Secret Clearance required prior to start
Desired skills
• Strong mission and end-to-end systems expertise: system, space and ground integration
• Experience with Mission Operations and on-orbit anomaly resolution
• Experience with troubleshooting test failures
• Prior experience as an LM Space Chief Engineer or Delegate
• Experience across multiple life cycle phases including development and into production, test and operations
• Prior experience leading a team thru development and design reviews
• Strong mentoring skills as evidenced through active mentoring relationships
• Proven experience as a conceptual thinker with the ability to translate into action and results
• Experience as CPE or RSE and delivering space flight or ground hardware or software
• Familiarity with LM Space Engineering processes and command media
• Experience interfacing and partnering with government customers
• Demonstrated ability to drive closure and resolve complex technical issues / challenges
• Experience managing subcontractor technical activities from proposal through final delivery and certification
• Experience with internal production operations
Material Review Board (MRB) Certification and
experience dispositioning non-conformances
• TS/SCI clearance Preferred
Work Schedule Information
Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.
National Pay Statement
Pay Rate: The annual base salary range for this position in California, Massachusetts, and New York (excluding most major metropolitan areas), Colorado, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, New Jersey, Vermont, Washington or Washington DC is $139,600 - $246,100. For states not referenced above, the salary range for this position will reflect the candidate's final work location. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. Lockheed Martin considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/ training, key skills as well as market and business considerations when extending an offer.

(Washington state applicants only) Non-represented full-time employees: accrue at least 10 hours per month of Paid Time Off (PTO) to be used for incidental absences and other reasons; receive at least 90 hours for holidays. Represented full time employees accrue 6.67 hours of Vacation per month; accrue up to 52 hours of sick leave annually; receive at least 96 hours for holidays. PTO, Vacation, sick leave, and holiday hours are prorated based on start date during the calendar year.
This position is incentive plan eligible.
Premium Pay Statement
Pay Rate: The annual base salary range for this position in most major metropolitan areas in California, Massachusetts, and New York is $160,500 - $278,300. For states not referenced above, the salary range for this position will reflect the candidate's final work location. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only.
