Program Overview
This position supports a newly awarded five-year effort delivering modern, mission-critical software capabilities to a national security customer. The program leverages Agile development, DevSecOps practices, and cloud-native technologies to build and enhance scalable enterprise solutions supporting critical mission operations.
Engineers on this effort will work with cross-functional teams to design, develop, and deploy impactful capabilities while helping shape the architecture and technical direction of a long-term, high-visibility program.
Position Overview
We are seeking a SQL Engineer to support a high-visibility, data-driven application that powers analytics and reporting across the organization. This role focuses on developing high-performance SQL queries, optimizing data workflows, and ensuring the accuracy and reliability of datasets used for mission-critical decision-making.
The ideal candidate has strong experience working with large-scale data environments, performance tuning, and supporting analytics or reporting pipelines. This individual will work closely with engineering teams and stakeholders to deliver scalable, efficient, and reliable data solutions.
Primary Responsibilities
• Object-Oriented Programming: Design, develop, test, troubleshoot, and maintain scalable software applications using object-oriented design principles.
• REST API Development: Implement and maintain RESTful services to support application functionality and integrations.
• Database Development: Develop and optimize SQL queries; contribute to database schema updates and performance improvements.
• Linux Environments: Develop, deploy, and troubleshoot applications within Linux-based environments.
• System Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve technical issues spanning application and database layers.
• Solution Design Collaboration: Contribute to technical design discussions and support implementation of approved architectures.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with engineers and stakeholders to translate requirements into effective technical solutions.
• Code Quality & Best Practices: Participate in code reviews and support adherence to established engineering standards.
Required Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree with 8-12 years of experience, or Master's with 6-10 years of experience
• Active TS/SCI with the ability to successfully pass a Polygraph
• Expert-level SQL skills, including:
• Complex joins across large datasets
• Query optimization and execution plan analysis
• Aggregations, subqueries, and window functions
• Strong experience with relational databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL, Oracle, or similar)
• Experience working with large-scale data supporting analytics/reporting
• Proficiency in Linux environments
• Ability to work independently and solve complex data challenges
Desired Qualifications
• Experience with Grafana or similar visualization tools
• Python for data manipulation (pandas, scripting, automation)
• Experience with materialized views, caching strategies, or query acceleration techniques
Pay Range
$130,000-$160,000
