Description & RequirementsOpportunity Summary:The Senior Project Manager works with the company's national & local sales representatives, branch managers, customers, and suppliers to manage the successful initiation, planning, design, execution, monitoring, controlling and closure of assigned projects. In addition, Senior Project Managers will define new business opportunities, establish suppliers, establish daily procedures, and integrate new national accounts into Smurfit Westrock's operational systems. Senior Project Managers should maximize existing National Account sales and profitability while providing excellent customer service support that optimizes day to day efficiency while controlling risk and minimizing uncertainty.
How you will impact Smurfit Westrock- Manage a portfolio of complex initiatives that span one or multiple lines of business
- Ownership of full project life cycle: successful project delivery will include full implementation from initiation to deployment for one major or several minor initiatives simultaneously
- Develop and manage all aspects of project and program engagement from planning, external vendor relationships, communications, resources, budget, change, risks and issues
- Define success criteria and disseminate them to involved parties throughout project and program life cycle
- Assist the local branches and sales teams in projects aimed at improving service levels.
- Transform troubled or delayed National Account projects to reflect positive performance in profitability, sales, supply chain, and account management
- Develop and deliver progress reports, proposals, requirements documentation and presentations to various audiences, including other project team members and members of management.
- Manage the communication and implementation of customers' service requirements on a location by location basis, as per the contractual obligations. This is attained by utilizing project management practices and working in close relationship between customer sites, local and national level suppliers, national account and local sales and local Smurfit Westrock Packaging Solutions branches
- Direct resources to complete successful RFP/RFQ processes for Fortune 500 companies
- Understand and define new business opportunities in conjunction with national sales team
- Work creatively and analytically in a problem-solving environment demonstrating teamwork, innovation and excellence to identify and implement tailored customer solutions that create value for the customer
- Manage ongoing quality control and participate in quality issue resolution
- Support formal/informal schedules to manage the engagement contract
- Conduct audits for prospective customers and identify opportunities at customer sites that fit the Packaging Solutions inventory management program
- Provide formal and informal training opportunities to Project Managers and other members of the National Accounts Operations department
- Establish practices, templates, policies, tools and partnerships to expand and mature these capabilities for the organization
- Continuous Learning of company products, processes and training modules
- Assist in dispute, negotiation, arbitration or litigation, as needed
- Assist the local branches and sales team in projects aimed at improving service levels
- Utilize executive Project Management software, the company's ERP system for data extraction, Project Proformas, and Executive Summaries for profitability analysis
- Other duties as assigned
What you need to succeed:- Must have a minimum of a Bachelor's degree, Master's preferred.
- Must have PMP certification.
- Must be eligible to work in the United States and/or Mexico without a Visa.
- Minimum of five years' experience in consistently excelling in operational, business analysis, or project management roles. Sales experience is not required, but could prove useful.
- Bilingual (Spanish/English) a plus.
- Must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Advanced proficiency in Excel, Word and Project Management software.
- Ability to travel 40-50% of the time.
- Must have the ability to work with minimal supervision.
