Full Job Description
PURPOSE OF THE JOB

The Roofing and Asphalt Sourcing Professional maintains strategic chemical sourcing responsibilities critical to Asphalt plant coating production and customer orders. The role balances strategic and tactical capabilities that support key internal and external stakeholders. This role is instrumental to Asphalt Sourcing execution and is a liaison linking Asphalt Sourcing, Commercial Businesses, Trumbull Asphalt Plants, Transportation, Chemical Suppliers, and Owens Corning (OC) Supply Chain.

The Sourcing Professional will be wholly responsible for the development and execution of a chemical procurement strategy that supports a subset of the company's chemical requirements across Owens Corning's network of Asphalt plants. Using analytics, and optimization resources, this individual will partner with Planning, S&T, Business Leaders, Finance, Commercial Team, Manufacturing, and Suppliers to gain and provide insight towards improving supplier lead times, order quantities, and inventory management that results in working capital savings and cost reduction.

The Sourcing Professional will leverage processes and partnerships to ensure quality raw materials arrive to the right plants, in the right quantities, at the right time. The Sourcing Professional must establish business relationships with the above stated key stakeholders to successfully execute a strategy that supports the company's business plan. This role requires excellent communication skills and the ability to coordinate activities across internal functional areas as well as with external vendors, carriers, and plant personnel.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
  1. Chemicals Sourcing Activities
  • Responsibility for creating and executing a chemical procurement strategy for OC Asphalt plants to support finished goods production schedule
  • Execute inventory management principles, maintaining supply-demand balances and inventory levels of key raw materials
  • Manage supply base for chemicals subcategory, inflation and savings forecasts in a data driven manner accounting for potential short, medium, and long-term risks and value creation initiatives
  • Develop strong relationships with appropriate levels of key supplier base; engage with suppliers regularly to assess their capabilities and risk levels and develop action plans to address any major gaps
  • Partner with internal OC stakeholders (e.g., supply chain, science and technology, plant teams) to mitigate category and supplier risk as necessary
  • Lead productivity projects for chemical raw materials
  1. Cross Functional Leadership and Team Contribution
  • Develop and build relationships with chemical suppliers and key partners inside and outside the organization
  • Collaborate with suppliers, commodity leaders, science and technology, and plants to ensure corporate objectives are achieved
  • Translate business and organizational strategy into day-to-day priorities and actions
  • Deeply understands the requirements and constraints of the plant and acts decisively to shape its outcome by influencing suppliers, transportation & sourcing through execution. Takes initiative and articulates ideas passionately and persuasively.
  1. Productivity and Cost Management Metrics
  • Identify value creation opportunities and risks the business must address. Build credible business plans and ensure the correct amount of resources exist to mitigate risk or realize opportunities
  • Identify opportunities to expand or improve network procurement processes to allow for product, asset, and logistical optimization
  • Contribute to the achievement of annual working capital goals
  • Contribute ideas to the productivity and cost savings pipeline
  • Be an active participant in driving manufacturing productivity by working collaboratively with commodity leaders, suppliers, and manufacturing support / S&T


JOB REQUIREMENTS

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor's degree in supply chain management, business, or a related field
  • 3+ years of related work experience in sourcing, procurement, supply chain, or related field
  • General experience in procurement, supply chain, customer service, or materials management role considered
  • Familiarity with commercial negotiations, order fulfillment, and network optimization software programs (i.e. SAP, Excel, Power BI)


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
  • Ability to demonstrate building a results-based sourcing strategy development, MRO or related sourcing space, is preferred
  • Able to use data, analytics, and other key information / metrics to develop short-term and long-term chemicals sourcing strategies
  • Possesses strong critical thinking, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple activities, projects, and effectively communicate results
  • Can operate effectively in a fast paced, day to day operations work environment
