We are looking for a Solutions Architect with deep expertise in AI, cloud, and backend software development to join Kopius' Solutions Team and help lead cutting-edge initiatives across a diverse, fast-moving portfolio of client engagements and internal innovation projects.
This is a high-impact, high-variety role. You'll be the technical mind across multiple teams, projects, and clients simultaneously - shaping architecture, designing solutions, partnering with sales on pre-sales conversations, and rolling up your sleeves with delivery teams when it counts. This role is ideal for an architect committed to driving technological innovation, who values collaborative leadership, and is eager to tackle complex challenges across diverse industries. As part of our Research and Innovation team within the Solutions Division, you'll research, design, and build technical solution offerings for Kopius enterprise customers - solutions that are packaged as formal offerings for our sales team. You'll also provide technical leadership and guidance to our client-facing delivery teams, working directly with Kopius engineers using Agile methodologies, and supporting the Solutions and Sales teams with technical expertise and pre-sales support as needed.Key Responsibilities

• Collaborate across multiple teams, projects, and clients simultaneously - moving fluidly between strategy, architecture, hands-on delivery, and pre-sales conversations
• Work closely with sales, pre-sales, and delivery teams to solicit feedback on customer trends and industry needs, and propose innovation ideas for solution offerings Kopius can sell to new and existing customers
• Serve as the technical lead for researching and building solutions focused on AI, cloud, and backend services - responsible for overall architecture and technical guidance
• Balance hands-on technical contributions to client projects with strategic solution development and sales support, ensuring both execution excellence and innovatio
• Act as technical lead for dynamic development teams using Agile methodologies to deliver innovative solutions, both internal and customer-facing
• Partner with the Solutions and Sales teams to identify opportunities, recommend viable technical approaches, and prototype solutions
• Represent technical expertise in pre-sales engagements, articulating complex solutions to prospective clients
• Create detailed technical documentation including architecture diagrams, data flows, implementation guides, and as-built project documentation
• Establish and maintain technical standards, best practices, and architectural governance for project delivery
• Evaluate emerging technologies and recommend adoption strategies that deliver competitive advantages
• Conduct architecture review sessions and provide technical guidance to development teams, including peer collaboration, mentorship, and fostering knowledge sharing and continuous learning within Kopius
• Develop proof-of-concepts / proof-of-values to validate architectural decisions and mitigate technical risks
• Build strong relationships with clients and technology partners throughout the project lifecycle
• Serve as the technical escalation point for complex issues requiring architectural expertise

Technical Requirements

• Strong development background with proven experience in full-stack software development
• Deep, hands-on backend development expertise with Python and Node.js - primary languages for the role
• Experience designing and building scalable backend services, microservices, and distributed architectures
• Strong foundation in API design, development, and best practices (REST, GraphQL, gRPC)
• Hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure cloud services, ideally alongside AWS
• Familiarity with relational and NoSQL databases and their integration into modern applications
• Hands-on experience with AI/ML solutions - LLMs, prompting, agents, RAG patterns, or applied ML
• Familiarity with at least one data/ETL technology (Snowflake, Databricks, Azure Data Factory, AWS Glue, or similar) - sufficient to integrate data flows into solutions, not as a primary specializatio
• Excellent problem-solving skills, with a proven ability to address complex challenges in software developmen
• Experience supporting sales, pre-sales, and delivery to scope development projects or provide ROM (rough order of magnitude) estimates in sales pursuit
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent professional experience)
• Nice to have: Experience with containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes)
• Nice to have: Experience with frontend frameworks (React, Angular, Vue) for full-stack solutioning
• Nice to have: Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices

• Compensation: $165,905 - $200,695 / year base salary. Individual pay within the posted range is determined by multiple factors, including job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
• Work Authorization: Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States on a permanent basis without requiring sponsorship, transfer, or extension of work authorization now or in the future.
