Job Description:

PayPal, Inc. seeks Sr Software Engineer in San Jose, CA

Job Duties: Design and implement mobile Monorepo testing architecture utilizing NX build system, integrating CocoaPods dependency management, and establishing iOS-specific testing workflows to support scalable test execution across multiple mobile applications. Develop predictive test selection algorithms using machine learning techniques to analyze historical test data, code changes, and failure patterns, implementing these models within Harness CI to optimize test execution time by 40-60%. Architect unified user provisioning system by migrating disparate user creation mechanisms to a single-source conditioning platform, ensuring consistent test data management across all mobile testing environments. Build comprehensive metrics collection infrastructure to monitor mobile platform health, including custom instrumentation for tracking infrastructure issues, test flakiness rates, performance degradation, and resource utilization patterns. Design and implement mobile mutation testing platform using advanced code mutation techniques to validate test suite effectiveness, identifying gaps in test coverage and improving overall code quality metrics. Integrate Model Context Protocol (MCP) servers into mobile development workflows by implementing MCP-compatible interfaces that enable engineers to leverage AI/LLM capabilities for automated code generation, test case creation, debugging assistance, and documentation generation directly within their development environment. Develop sophisticated test automation frameworks leveraging XCTest and XCUITest, implementing custom assertions, test helpers, and reusable components that support both UIKit and SwiftUI applications. Create AI-powered test optimization pipelines within CI/CD systems, implementing intelligent test scheduling, parallel execution strategies, and dynamic resource allocation based on historical performance data. Engineer performance profiling and analysis tools for mobile applications, including automated memory leak detection, UI rendering performance validation, and network request optimization testing. Implement advanced test result analytics platform using data visualization and statistical analysis to identify testing trends, predict potential failures, and provide actionable insights to development teams. Design, develop, and maintain iOS applications using Swift, SwiftUI, UIKit, and Objective-C. Implement data persistence solutions using SwiftData and Core Data frameworks for local storage management. Develop asynchronous and concurrent operations using Swift Concurrency (async/await) and Combine framework. Integrate RESTful APIs and GraphQL services into iOS applications, implementing efficient networking layers, managing data synchronization, handling authentication flows, and optimizing query performance for both REST endpoints and GraphQL operations. Write unit tests and integration tests using Swift Testing framework and XCTest to ensure code quality. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define, design, and ship new features. Lead code reviews and provide technical guidance to junior developers. Optimize application performance, memory usage, and battery consumption. Debug and resolve complex technical issues and crashes. Design and implement scalable, maintainable architecture patterns (MVC, MVVM, VIPER). Ensure applications meet Apple's Human Interface Guidelines and App Store requirements. Stay current with iOS SDK updates and new Apple technologies. Partial telecommuting permitted from within a commutable distance.

Minimum Requirements: Bachelor's degree, or foreign equivalent, in Computer Science, Engineering or a closely related field plus five years of experience in the job offered or a related occupation.
