PayPal, Inc. seeks Sr Software Engineer in San Jose, CA
Job Duties: Design, develop, and deploy scalable backend systems and solutions. Build and implement RESTful services, focusing on scalability and reliability, using Java. Optimize system performance and reliability. Troubleshoot and rapidly iterate. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality products that meet business needs with respect to functionality, performance, scalability, reliability, realistic implementation schedules, and adherence to testing goals and principles. Mentor junior engineers and contribute to code reviews and design discussions. Apply expertise in cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure), databases (SQL, NoSQL), large-scale, high-performance systems, cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure), and with ORM tools. Partial telecommuting permitted from within a commutable distance.
Minimum Requirements: Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent, in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a closely related field, plus three (3) years of experience in the job offered or a related occupation.
Special Skill Requirements:
1. Experience designing and developing large-scale software applications using Object-Oriented Design and Java (3 years);
2. Experience with SQL and NoSQL databases, MongoDB, Redis caching with fallback mechanisms, and Hibernate/JPA optimistic locking. (3 years);
3. Experience building scalable and secure RESTful APIs with Java, Spring Boot, and Asynchronous programming (3 years);
4. Experience with serverless event-driven architectures with auto-scaling, deploying, and managing applications on AWS Cloud (3 years);
5. Experience with distributed messaging, managing multi-tenant payment processing with reliable message delivery systems and event-driven architectures using Kafka messaging systems (3 years);
6. Experience with establishing build automation, CI/CD pipelines, and release management using various systems and Jenkins/Groovy scripting (3 years);
7. Experience with containerization and orchestration using Docker and Kubernetes/OpenShift (3 years);
8. Experience with comprehensive testing strategies, including unit testing with JUnit/Mockito, Cucumber BDD, and code quality tools: Java Code Coverage (JaCoCo) or SonarQube (3 years);
9. Experience with monitoring and observability tools, including Datadog, CloudWatch, and ELK stack for centralized logging, proactive performance monitoring (3 years);
10. Experience with financial services domain, including loan applications, payment systems, and banking core systems (3 years).
Additional Responsibilities & Preferred Qualifications:
The base pay for this role will depend on where you work and the relevant experience and expertise you bring. The expected range of pay for this role by location is:
Primary Location | Pay Range:
San Jose, California | Salary: $187,741.00-270,500.00 per annum. 40 hours per week; M-F, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Additional compensation for this role may include an annual performance bonus, equity, or other incentive compensation, as applicable.
