PayPal, Inc. seeks Sr Software Engineer in San Jose, CA

Job Duties: Develop automated tests and deliver high-quality software code to production within a short development cycle in the continuous integration and delivery environment. Architect and implement scalable mobile solutions and champion technical excellence and best practices. Lead complex mobile projects and teams and collaborate with software product leadership to define mobile product strategy, and drive innovation and technical excellence in mobile software development. Mentor and develop high-performing software engineering teams, using experience in mobile app development, proficiency in Kotlin/Java (Android), and mobile performance optimization, testing, and integrations. Drive architecture discussions, produce well-documented design docs, and participate in design and code reviews. Research and apply emerging mobile technologies and utilize object-oriented skills including design, coding, and testing patterns. Collaborate with backend teams to integrate mobile features via JSON or graph QL based APIs. Work independently and determine own approach to work. Partial telecommuting permitted from within a commutable distance.

Minimum Requirements: Master's degree, or foreign equivalent, in Computer Science, Engineering, or a closely related field plus three years of experience in the job offered or a related occupation. Employer will accept a Bachelor's degree, or foreign equivalent, in Computer Science, Engineering, or a closely related field plus five years of experience in the job offered or a related occupation.

Special Skill Requirements:

1. Architect modules and libraries leveraging advanced Jetpack Compose frameworks (3 years).

2. Design modern codebase using MVVM and build multi-module, plug-and-play app frameworks (3 years).

3. Integrate mobile features via JSON or graph QL based APIs (3 years).

4. Android Performance Profiling at Scale (3 years).

5. Build and maintain robust CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions or Jenkins (3 years).

6. Advanced testing practices using Espresso, Mockito, and Junit (3 years).

7. Integrate personalized user experiences using ML-driven recommendations (1 year).

8. Leverage agentic workflows to drive dynamic, context-aware experiences (1 year).

9. Utilize GitHub Copilot as a coding assistant to improve code quality (1 year).

10. Mobile Security Standards for pen testing (1 year).

11. Offline-First and Sync Architecture (1 year).

Additional Responsibilities & Preferred Qualifications:

The base pay for this role will depend on where you work and the relevant experience and expertise you bring. The expected range of pay for this role by location is:

Primary Location | Pay Range:

San Jose, California | Salary: $187,741-270,500 per annum. 40 hours per week; M-F, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Additional compensation for this role may include an annual performance bonus, equity, or other incentive compensation, as applicable.
