PayPal, Inc. seeks Sr Software Engineer in Chicago, IL
Job Duties: Design, develop and deploy high-quality product features for Partners and Marketplaces. Strong coding background in Java/J2EE technologies and RESTful web services. Able to perform unit testing and write functional test cases using Junit/TestNG. Prepare and execute Performance test using JMeter to find and help fix performance & scalability issues in a very time critical environment. Apply experience in SQL & NoSQL solutions and understand pros and cons of relational and free form databases. Collaborate with product managers, architects, engineers and QA to develop innovative solutions that meet market needs with regards to functionality, performance, reliability, realistic implementations schedules and adherence to development goals and principles. Adhere to best of class coding and design standards. Identify areas of technical improvement and make detailed business cases for improvements or new areas of opportunities. Provide technical guidance and assistance to other software engineers. Ensure all deliverables adhere to the timelines, quality, and performance. Partial telecommuting permitted from within a commutable distance.
Minimum Requirements: Master's degree, or foreign equivalent, in Computer Science, Engineering, or a closely related field plus two years of experience in the job offered or a related occupation. Employer will also accept a Bachelor's degree, or foreign equivalent, in Computer Science, Engineering, or a closely related field plus five years of experience in the job offered or a related occupation.
Special Skill Requirements:
Two years of experience required in each of the following skills:
1. Experience in design and development in scalable applications using Java, J2EE and Spring boot.
2. Experience in implementing RESTful APIs and integrated third-party services to enhance application functionality.
3. Collaborate with product owners and leadership to gather requirements and define new feature specifications.
4. Experience utilizing modern development tools and practices, including Maven, IntelliJ IDEA, and unit testing frameworks, to ensure robust and reliable code delivery.
5. Experience in source code management using tools like GitHub, SVN.
6. Demonstrate expertise in database technologies including MySQL and Oracle
7. Experience building front-end interfaces using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript to deliver responsive user experiences
8. Experience identifying and resolving technical issues, contributing to enhanced system stability and customer satisfaction.
Additional Responsibilities & Preferred Qualifications:
The base pay for this role will depend on where you work and the relevant experience and expertise you bring. The expected range of pay for this role by location is:
Primary Location | Pay Range:
Chicago, IL | $153,317.00-221,500.00 per annum. 40 hours per week; M-F, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Additional compensation for this role may include an annual performance bonus, equity, or other incentive compensation, as applicable.
