PayPal, Inc. seeks Sr Software Engineer in Austin, TX
Job Duties: Develop and maintain scalable and secure payment processing systems that interact with databases and other Microservices, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements. Write clean and efficient code using programming languages and frameworks like Java and Spring Boot, adhering to best practices and design patterns. Create and oversee automated Continuous Integration pipelines utilizing tools such as Jenkins, and monitor the health and performance of production applications through platforms like Splunk and Kibana. Participate in code reviews to ensure code quality, maintainability, and adherence to coding standards. Optimize system performance by analyzing metrics, identifying bottlenecks, and implementing performance improvements. Create high traffic backend services, with low latency and design them for scale. Collaborate with business users to define the key business requirements and translate them into process/technical solutions. Participate in the development of tools, systems and processes aimed at improving product supportability or overall support productivity. Create and review well-articulated, detailed design documents. Mentor other engineers and developers by providing technical and business-related guidance and resources. Troubleshoot and debug issues in the payment platform, identifying root causes and implementing timely solutions to minimize impact on users. Enhance and maintain existing product capabilities by working with various cross functional teams. Stay updated on emerging technologies, industry trends, and best practices in payment processing, contributing to the continuous improvement of PayPal's payment platform. Partial telecommuting permitted from within a commutable distance.
Minimum Requirements: Master's degree, or foreign equivalent, in Computer Science, Engineering, or a closely related field plus two years of experience in the job offered or a related occupation.
Special Skill Requirements:
1. Scaling applications architecture & Batch processing (2 years).
2. Java, J2EE, Object oriented design, J2EE Design Patterns (2 years).
3. Spring Framework, Spring Boot, Spring Batch, Spring IOC, Spring MVC, and Spring JDBC (2 years)
4. REST API Web Services Development using Junit, Mockito, Swagger, Maven, and Gradle (2 years).
5. Data Visualization for Monitoring Dashboard and Observability (2 years).
6. Splunk and Kibana (2 years).
7. Python, Oracle, and MySQL (2 years).
8. AWS Cloud, Kafka, and Git (2 years).
9. Payment API processing platform (1 year).
10. AppDynamics (1 year)
Additional Responsibilities & Preferred Qualifications:
The base pay for this role will depend on where you work and the relevant experience and expertise you bring. The expected range of pay for this role by location is:
Primary Location | Pay Range:
Austin, TX | Salary: $130,500.00-221,500.00 per annum. 40 hours per week; M-F, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Additional compensation for this role may include an annual performance bonus, equity, or other incentive compensation, as applicable.
