Full Job Description
About The Role

As a Senior Software Engineer II, you'll lead complex technical initiatives and shape how we build, scale, and evolve our Nliven platform. This role is for someone who thrives on solving our hardest technical challenges while helping others grow and succeed around them.

This role requires deep expertise in .NET Core and strong full-stack range across modern frontend frameworks like React, Angular, or Vue, along with a real appreciation for the principles of Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) and DevOps that keep our systems stable, observable, and rapidly deployable. Whether you're designing new features, optimizing critical services, or tackling tech debt head-on, you'll have a direct hand in driving technical excellence.

As a full-spectrum engineer, you care about more than code - you care about customers, business outcomes, security, reliability, and architecture as part of your own work. Beyond technical execution, you act as a force multiplier: you mentor engineers, help the team adopt Continuous Delivery practices, and raise the bar on engineering best practices, partnering with Product, Design, and Engineering Leadership as part of a cross-functional, empowered product team. You'll report to an Engineering Manager and own the end-to-end delivery of large-scale, complex projects, with the tools to shape solutions and the responsibility to see them through. This is your chance to make a meaningful impact.

This position is full-time and fully remote. Candidates must be located in California, Oregon, Colorado, Texas, Wisconsin, Minnesota, Louisiana, Florida, Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, New Jersey, New York, or Connecticut. Candidates may be required to travel and/or meet up in-person from time to time. There may also be an expectation in the future for hybrid work in a local office.
About You
  • You take ownership naturally and follow through. When you commit to a solution, you see it through to a high standard.
  • You enjoy balancing hands-on technical work with mentoring others, raising the bar not just for code quality but for how the team works together.
  • You're comfortable operating in ambiguity, asking the right questions, and turning evolving requirements into thoughtful, scalable solutions.
  • You care about building the right thing, not just building fast, and you value collaboration with Product and Design to create meaningful user impact.
What You'll Do
  • Lead and drive large, complex projects from conception to delivery, working closely with Product Managers, Designers, and engineering teams across multiple pods.
  • Write clean, reusable, and maintainable code across the full technology stack with a focus on security, scalability, efficiency, and sustainability.
  • Lead technical discussions with Product and Design teams to architect solutions that align with business objectives and long-term technical strategy.
  • Create and maintain comprehensive technical documentation, including system architecture designs, API contracts, and technical roadmaps.
  • Lead code reviews and provide technical guidance to engineers across teams, ensuring adherence to engineering best practices and architectural patterns.
  • Define, evolve, and champion coding standards, best practices, and design principles across the engineering organization.
  • Proactively identify and resolve performance bottlenecks and system reliability issues, implementing solutions that improve DORA metrics.
  • Research and evaluate emerging technologies, making informed recommendations on adoption and integration into the platform.
  • Serve as a technical mentor and force multiplier for engineers across multiple teams, fostering a culture of continuous learning, quality, and technical excellence.
  • Drive and lead architectural discussions, contributing to strategic technical roadmaps and platform evolution.
  • Solve highly complex technical challenges spanning performance, scalability, security, and system design across multiple domains.
  • Partner closely with Product teams to design features from concept through production, including instrumentation, observability, monitoring, and iterative improvement based on customer feedback and usage patterns.
  • Lead initiatives to improve developer experience, including tooling enhancements, CI/CD optimization, infrastructure improvements, and onboarding processes.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders, c-suite, and cross-functional teams to ensure engineering solutions deliver exceptional business value and user experience.
  • Champion shipping in small, complete vertical slices- supported by trunk-based development and feature flags- over large, risky releases.
  • Lead incident response efforts and champion a culture of accountability, shared ownership, and continuous improvement through participation in incident reviews and reliability initiatives.
