Architecture & Design- Design scalable, resilient SD-WAN architectures for enterprise and service provider environments (100+ to 10,000+ sites).
- Architects, Design and implement SD-WAN networks mainly based on Cisco Viptela and Meraki technologies.
- Interacts with other Architects (IP, automation, Security) and Operations to implement infrastructure and necessary designs to evolve the SD-Wan strategy.
- Architect secure connectivity including:
- IPsec / AutoVPN overlays
- Segmentation (VRFs, VLANs, policies)
- Cloud on-ramps (AWS, Azure, GCP).
- Define standards for multi-region, multi-tenant SD-WAN topologies (hub/spoke, full mesh, hybrid cloud)
- Document technical standards related to the SD-Wan product and solutions.
- Produce high-quality HLDs/LLDs and reference architectures
- Test new SD-Wan features under PoC environments to be deployed over production environment according to defined roadmaps.
- Analyzes trends, news and changes related to the vendor's roadmap and works closely to the Product definition to evolve the features and capabilities as requested by the business.
- Interact with the engineering team to execute change management for infrastructure, upgrades, etc.
- Implement and provide technical demonstrations and use cases of the SD-Wan platforms and solutions.
Automation & Orchestration - Automate configuration and lifecycle management across:
- Cisco Meraki (MX, MS, MR)
- Cisco Catalyst SD-WAN
- Fortinet SD-WAN
- Integrate with:
- ITSM platforms (e.g., ServiceNow)
- Monitoring/observability tools
- Inventory and CMDB systems
CI/CD & DevOps for Networking Implement GitOps workflows for network deployments
- Build CI/CD pipelines to validate, test, and deploy configurations
- Enforce code reviews, versioning, and rollback strategies
- Develop automated validation and compliance checks
Operational Excellence - Define scalable deployment models for large rollouts (bulk site provisioning)
- Optimize deployment timelines and reduce manual intervention
- Develop reporting and telemetry for:
- Deployment success rates
- Configuration drift
- Network compliance
- Lead troubleshooting of complex SD-WAN and automation issues
- Act as technical lead and mentor for network and automation engineers
- Define automation roadmap and best practices
- Collaborate with product, operations, and customer teams
- Drive innovation in network automation and service delivery
- Ensure network infrastructure is working at optimal levels to support the SD-Wan Infrastructure's availability by assuring version updates plans and execution, infrastructure resource monitoring and upgrade plans and execution, etc.
Education & Experience: - 8+ years of experience in networking, with strong focus on SD-WAN
- Proven experience designing large-scale SD-WAN environments (hundreds to thousands of sites)
- Hands-on expertise with at least one:
- Cisco Meraki
- Cisco SD-WAN (Viptela)
- Fortinet SD-WAN
- Strong automation and scripting experience:
- YAML / JSON data modeling
- REST APIs and API integrations
- Python
- Experience with:
- GitHub / Git workflows
- CI/CD pipelines
- Workflow automation tools (n8n, Ansible, Terraform, or similar)
- Strong experience with LAN/WAN routing protocols.
- Demonstration of CCNP/CCNP SP (CCIP)/CCIE level (or higher) knowledge (or vendor alternatives) is a must (required or comparable level).
- Rich experience of QOS, MPLS, BGP, L3VPN/L2VPN, IGP, OSPF, OMP SD-WAN, VRRP.
- Strong understanding of networking protocols (HTTP, DNS, NTP, SMTP, STP, NetConf, NMS, etc.)
- Virtual Private Network Expertise - both IPSEC and SSL.
- Experience with Next-Generation Firewall, Zone Based Firewall.
- Experience designing and transitioning multiple site migrations on large SD-Wan networks.
- Experience with deployment, configuration and troubleshooting of SD-Wan segmentation.
- Knowledge of virtualization technologies and hypervisors such as Xen, Hyper-V, KVM, or ESX.
- Experience developing and executing MOPS.
- Profound knowledge of network planning and optimization.
