Full Job Description
The Quantitative, Translational ADME Sciences (QTAS) department at AbbVie is seeking a highly motivated scientist to join the Novel Biologic Entities-Bioanalysis and Translational Science group. The main function of this position is to develop and implement LC/MS (liquid chromatography/mass spectrometry)-based bioanalysis and characterization assays of novel biologics entities. The successful candidate will be experienced in the optimization and implementation of novel and routine LC/MS-based bioanalytical methods for protein and proteome characterization and quantitation to support in vivo PK, TK, and PK/PD studies as well as in vivo stability characterization of complex biotherapeutic modalities. The candidate will be responsible for sample preparation, method development, bioanalytical assay operations, data analysis, report generation, and data presentation.
Key tasks and responsibilities:
37Operate and maintain LC/MS instruments to generate high-quality experimental data.
37Perform affinity purification of biotherapeutic (including but not limited to monoclonal and multispecific antibody, antibody drug conjugates, Fusion Proteins, antibody-siRNA conjugates, and tLNPs).
37Perform proteomics/immunopeptidomics sample preparation workflows
37Analyze data and maintain detailed, accurate and comprehensive study documentation in electronic laboratory notebooks. Communicate data interpretation internally and externally.
37Facilitate assay optimization and implementation to ensure laboratory capacity and data quality.
37Generate new scientific proposals and lead resulting efforts. Investigate, identify, develop, and optimize new methods and techniques. Act as a lead scientist in his/her area of expertise and critically evaluate relevant scientific and regulatory advances and integrate this knowledge into research or development programs.
Qualifications
37Ph.D. (0+ years), M.S. (8+ years), or B.S. (10+ years) of experience in pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry.
37Highly motivated, self-driven and results-oriented with excellent communication and presentation skills; capable of working both as a team player and individual contributor.
37Prior industry experience in drug discovery/development is preferred. In-depth understanding of in vivo PK, TK and PK/PD studies and corresponding bioanalytical assays as well as in vitro/ in vivo characterization assays is highly desired.
37In-depth understanding of LC-MS methodology with the focus on protein mass spectrometry and hands-on experience with wide range of mass spectrometers, including QQQ, TOF and orbitrap platforms, are highly desired.
37Hands-on experience with proteomics/immunopeptidomics samples preparation as well as automated liquid handling systems is strongly preferred.
37Demonstrated ability to manage and analyze data using advanced software tools such as Protein Metrics Byos and GraphPad Prism.
37Passion for generating ideas, learning, solving technical problems, and applying new technologies to advance scientific goals.
