Full Job Description
Location: (Remote) | Full-Time,

Pay: $81,900.00 to $114,000.00; annually

As a Sr. Risk and Safety Consultant Rep AKA Senior Loss Prevention Representative, you will serve as the subject matter expert regarding Loss Control Safety & Health services for SFM's policy holders. You will support SFM's mission to "do the right thing" and find ways to improve the overall safety for workers and mitigate work related injuries. Visiting various businesses seeking ways to improve employee safety and reducing work related injury losses is a critical part of the position. Working on a multi-functioning team, you will strive to deliver exceptional customer service and inspire a safer workplace to protect workers from harm. This position offers lots of variety, focusing on assisting our customers, who are our policy holders, increase their safety awareness while adhering to departmental and company guidelines and standards. The successful candidate will work remotely and must live in Indiana. A company car is offered for this position. *Candidates with advanced Safety/Risk experience may be considered for a higher level and the salary will be based on your experience. Your job and training will be tailored to your experience level.

What You'll Do:

  • Conduct risk assessments and creates reports in a variety of settings and does research and completes a risk analysis to make recommendations to control customers' source of risk, loss and/or costs.
  • As needed, evaluates, reviews, and monitors routine environmental and occupational disease exposures to determine degree of risk.
  • Plan and presents safety-related educational programs to control exposures for policyholders and provides training if necessary and mentors other team members as needed.
  • Provides risk assessment information internally to the respective business teams and works collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Regularly interacts with team members, policyholders and agents to achieve individual and team goals.
  • Provides first-class customer service to all customers and complies with customer service standards.


What We'll Like About You:

  • Bachelor's degree in safety, risk management or science preferred; in lieu of a Bachelor's degree, 4 years of safety field experience will be accepted.
  • Master's degree in safety, risk management or related studies is a plus.
  • Three or more year's insurance loss control or safety consulting experience or working in a safety-related field. (manufacturing or construction setting preferred).
  • ASP designation, or other professional certifications relevant to the position is a plus.
  • Knowledge of applicable state and federal regulations related to workers' compensation insurance, safety and OSHA.
  • Excellent presentation and facilitation skills and the ability to develop and conduct training programs.
  • Strong time management skills and ability to work independently.
  • Excellent customer service skills and demonstrated ability to build and sustain relationships.
  • Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.
  • Flexibility in scheduling to accommodate customer's needs, which may require overnight stays.

Work Environment and Physical Demands

Regular attendance is required. Most work is performed outside of a standard office environment, but work will take place in a semi paperless environment, using standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopies; may require being stationary at variable periods of time or physical movement. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear, and maintain concentration and focus. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands and fingers, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms and work with close vision. This position requires the ability to occasionally lift office products and supplies, Occasional lifting (approximately 25 to 35 pounds). Ability to walk, climb stairs and climb ladders, bend stoop and crouch and wear personal protective equipment on policyholder sites as needed. Regularly exposed to different work environments which includes, but is not limited to dusty, noisy, cold, hot, agricultural environments and a variety of weather conditions. Travel as needed.
