Sr Research Associate, Upstream in vivo Antibody Discovery
Job Description

This is a role on the Upstream Antibody Discovery team that provides support for cell culture, hybridoma and single B cell antibody techniques for discovery of therapeutic, diagnostic and tool reagent antibody candidates. This role will work closely with our Antibody Characterization and Protein Analytics teams at our Quincy, MA location to provide end-to-end project support in addition to upstream workflows.
What You'll Be Doing:
  • As a member of the Upstream Antibody Discovery team, you will perform wet-lab benchwork including mammalian cell culture, hybridoma fusions, and Beacon-based single B cell screening, including reagent preparation and QC.
  • Work closely with all scientific departments to ensure scientific excellence and execution for antibody projects involving cell culture, transient protein production and purification, downstream SPR, BLI, and developability assays.
  • Work closely with the Project Management team to communicate timelines and deliverables to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Concurrently execute multiple antibody discovery and contract service projects requiring wet lab activities, data analysis, report generation and preparation of deliverables adhering to project timelines
  • Record and communicate experimental details, draft reports, and deliver data with a high level of integrity and ethics
  • Assist with automation integration into the department to increase capacity and efficiency while maintaining a high standard of operational and scientific excellence

Candidate Qualifications & Requirements
Education & Experience:
  • Educational Background: BS in a life sciences or technical field with 5+ years of experience, or an MS with 3+ years of experience in antibody discovery workflows.

Core Scientific Expertise (Required):
  • In Vivo Discovery Techniques: Strong foundational knowledge of in vivo immunization concepts, hybridoma fusions/culture, and single B cell screening techniques.
  • Hands-on Wet Lab Experience: Proven expertise in mammalian cell culture and transient transfections.
  • High-Throughput Assays: Direct experience managing high-throughput assays (processing thousands of samples simultaneously).
  • Data & Project Management: Demonstrated ability to accurately analyze complex scientific data, troubleshoot processes under tight timelines, and autonomously prioritize tasks across concurrent projects.

Communication & Collaboration:
  • Cross-Functional Communication: Exceptional written and verbal communication skills; a proven track record of effectively updating managers, project management, and cross-functional teams regarding project status, risks, and deliverables.
  • Integrity & Culture: Strong focus on problem-solving, attention to detail, and a commitment to maintaining data integrity and ethics in a collaborative team setting.

Highly Preferred skills:
  • Single B Cell Platforms: Direct, hands-on experience with Beacon single B cell techniques.
  • Biologics Characterization: Familiarity with downstream characterization tools, including Carterra SPR, Octet BLI, and developability assays (HPLC and high-throughput plate-based formats).
  • Standard Assays: Experience with ELISA, SDS-PAGE, protein quantification, and endotoxin assays.
  • Automation: Experience or interest assisting with laboratory automation integration to boost department capacity and efficiency.

The base cash compensation for this Massachusetts-based role is below. In addition to base salary, this role is eligible for bonus, equity, and a generous benefits package. Final compensation amounts are determined by multiple factors, including candidate skill, experience, expertise, and location and may vary from the amount listed above. Compensation may be different in other locations.
