Role SummaryThe Range & Efficiency (R&E) Development Engineer supports the R&E Attributes process during final vehicle level validation sign off. Test planning, vehicle preparation and data analysis are part of the daily activities for this role.. Support chamber, proving grounds and on-road testing for R&E Attributes and through hardware/software development. Manage opening and closure of engineering concerns and issues throughout the vehicle life.
Responsibilities- Execute vehicle level static and dynamic efficiency test activities per test plans developed in collaboration with key internal stakeholders and external resources.
- Conduct 1D vehicle level simulations to optimize vehicle Powertrain efficiency, Vehicle aerodynamics, Thermal strategies and Tire rolling resistance under different ambient and operating conditions.
- Document findings and recommendations for range and efficiency improvements, providing actionable insights and design feedback for future product iterations.
- Run vehicle test procedures using hub and chassis dynamometer and complete post processing and data analysis.
- Responsible to instrument vehicles with the necessary data acquisition hardware for data collection.
- Work closely with software and hardware teams to make sure representative vehicle is being tested.
- Responsible for retrieving, storing, and sharing of logged data from tests with different teams.
Qualifications- Hands-on knowledge of dynamometer testing, coastdown testing is a plus.
- Capability to manage multiple tests activities in parallel for different programs.
- Working knowledge of vehicle communication network systems (CAN, LIN, Ethernet, etc.).
- Experience in 1D simulation, data analysis and test scripting/automation experience (C/C++, Python, MATLAB/Simulink).
- Experience in debugging and resolving hardware and software issues at vehicle level.
- Ability to instrument a vehicle and operate data acquisition systems such as CANalyzer & Hioki for data collection.
- Excellent communication skills in both technical and non-technical environments.
- A strong desire to create the very best product, working as an integral part of a very capable team.
- BS (and preferably MS or PhD) in an engineering discipline.
Preferred:
- Experience with vehicle controls and power electronics.
- Experience with vehicle level chassis dyno testing.
- Experience with MATLAB and Simulink.
Pay DisclosureThe salary range for this role is $121,500-151,900 for Southern California based applicants and $111,500-138,700 for Michigan based applicants. This is the lowest to highest salary we in good faith believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting. An employee's position within the salary range will be based on several factors including, but not limited to, specific competencies, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, shift, and organizational needs.
The successful candidate may be eligible for annual performance bonus and equity awards.
